Hi all,
I just received my wife to be's wedding band and I think that it overpowers the ering. The band is 1.01 carats over seven stones and is prong set. The ering is 1.24 cts 6 prong solitare.....any suggestions as to what I should do?

Upgrade the engagement ring!

Re: Wedding band too strong for engagement ring

can you perhaps choose a different wedding band?

Re: Wedding band too strong for engagement ring

is this your opinion or her opinon? You might be worrying over nothing. She might love the look. My DH didn't like my set together he felt my setting and band detracted from my center stone. Personally I love it- the more the better. So I would check with her before you make any decisions also- when you do check with her don't say "i think this is really overpowering, so perhaps you should do something else..." that is never what a FI wants to hear.

If your wife-to be-agrees, you could have the 7-stone re-sized to be a right-hand ring and save it as an anniversary gift. Then get a less blingy wedding band.

Re: Wedding band too strong for engagement ring

try a significant spacer (2mm or so) to give each piece it's own clearly delineated space on the finger to shine?

Right...what does she think?

I think having a second wedding band made of plain metal is another option. It won't cost all that much, and there are many times when I wear the metal band alone because I am doing activities like gardening, camping, making play-doh with the kids, etc. where you really can't wear a diamond ring. I agree that having a blingy band is great fun to wear at times.

I agree w/the other ladies who said to ask your wife. She might love the look.

Re: Wedding band too strong for engagement ring

Agree that you should get your DW input as she may like/love it. Alternatives are to return and go thinner.... get a different band for wedding and save the 7 stone for an anniversary... get another band - a WG or P950 for less bling days.

Got any pictures? A visual of this might help with suggestions.

May we please see them?

Also, plain bands can be a lot of fun, and helpful if you travel a lot, like messy hobbies,or have fingers that change size easily.

Yes, please. It would be much easier to comment if we could see them. :))
