Wedding bands that don't match your e-ring?

I'm curious if anyone has a wedding set that doesn't match, and how that works. I'm looking at bands now and leaning towards a plain one, but also have seen a couple sapphire/diamond bands I REALLY like, but they won't match my e-ring stone. If the colors are in the same family (green-blue and dark blue, for example), does it just end up looking really weird?

I plan on wearing the band all the time, and don't always wear the e-ring, so I should probably get what I like and not care too much about conformity or what "works" - but wanted to get your thoughts, or see if anyone had any examples where this kind of thing actually worked out?

I think it really comes down to personal preference, since you are the one wearing them. I've seen some single stone rings I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole............and some color combo's that I'm shocked they 'work'--but they do. For me, in your situation IIRC, you have a green/blue Montana sapphire. I know I saw someone who had melee that fit the blue/green color and they were Montana's........did you contact Blaze to see if he has any that are complimentary?

My "real" engagement ring is a plain solitaire, and my real wedding band is a plain band. But I wear whatever I want with it. Diamond band, sapphire bezel band, alternating sapphire and diamonds, anything goes, really.

I really like wearing my spess in yellow gold with my pink/rose gold sapphire eternity band. They "go together" without matching.

Not the best pics, but here is my ering with different, coordinating bands.

ETA: I say get what you like, don't worry about them "matching".

Wish I could help.I know my future SIL wants a vintage ruby or ruby and diamond w band to pair with her yellow sapphire e ring. But she doesn't have it yet so no pics

I like the idea when done right.

I like wedding bands that aren't a set with the e-ring. More interesting & varied. With my blue spinel, I wear an emerald & diamond part eternity, or a yg band with diamonds. I have some 2-mm princess-cut Montana sapphires that I want to combine with princess diamonds for a band (as soon as I can afford it).

I guess I'm not sentimental about a band's being "the one" used in the ceremony in that I have about 3 wedding bands & 2 e-rings & interchange them, depending on what I'm wearing. I think it's fun to have a change. It's a matter of what you like, though -- many people want them to match.

I don't have a wedding band per se and I've changed my e-ring too many times to count so I'm definitely not one to be giving advice on this topic. I like it when they aren't a perfect match but are complementary.

I am fan of rings that "go together" instead of "match." And I like creative. Go for whatever you like!

You know I haven't, maybe I'll look into it :) At the same time, I may go the opposite route and get something very plain/simple, haven't really decided! I was just curious to see if anybody had any examples. I do like the way my stone looks next to my rhodolite garnet, like a jeweltone party (my favorite sweater even matches, with teal and raspberry-purple designs on it. hehe).

Ooo!!! Teal and a raspberry would look great together!
