Did/Are you having your hair and makeup done in studio or on location? What do you think the pros and cons are?

I am trying to decide between the two. In studio is cheaper, but I don''t want to be rushing between places. Give me your opinions please.

i''m planning on having someone come to me. the extra cost is worth the peace of mind, IMO, esp since I''m getting married in SF, and those from around here know that a parking space here is worth more than a car''s weight in gold!!!!

I went to the salon to get my hair done on my wedding day and got pulled over for speeding on the way back to my house! I had all the girls in the bridal party come to the salon so it was a lot of fun, but I didn't realize how much commuting back and forth to my house would take. Fortunately, the cop let me off with a warning.

I would say have someone come to your house. Less to worry about...unless of course he/she doesn't show up!

ETA: pros: less stress about commuting (traffic, etc.), can eat/do other things while getting hair/makeup done, if in the summer, less chance of melting before you get to the ceremony

, can have your photographer take pics of you getting ready (if you want that)
cons: may be more $$$$

flopkins, I know what you mean about SF since I am grew up in Alameda.

jellybean, thanks for sharing your experience. That''s what I was kinda worrying about.

ok erro message, am re-tryingr..i hope i''m not posting twice!

I''m having someone come to me. Not having to rush around is worth extra cost, esp. since I''m having two ceremonies (one bhuddist, one catholic) and will be driving around enough as is!

My SIL hired a makeup artist through a local Chanel counter to do hers. She knew her and knew she did good work. They were impressed. They had their hair done at a Salon.

FOr my friends'' weddings we all went to the same salon (both years) and had both hair and makeup done. For the one I looked great, last year I didn''t like my makeup. None of us did really.

For mine we all went to a salon for our hair, only myself, my SIL, my MIL and my mom got our makeup done there. All was great and lasted all day.

I am going to the salon for hair and make-up...there are so many bridesmaids, myself, mom, ect...that we thought it would be too chaotic at the house, they are opening the salon early for us and it is really close to my moms house so it was our best bet

I got my hair done in a salon by a woman who had done my hair for a while.

I got my makeup done by a Mary Kay representative. She came over to my house prior to the wedding and did a "test run" with me and my bridesmaids and mom. Then on the day of the wedding, she came to my mom''s house (where I was getting ready) and did my bridesmaids, mom and me using the color palettes that were decided on the "test run." I think she charged $40 for me and $10/bridesmaid...my mom picked up the tab as a gift to my bridal party (since it was so reasonable in price anyway...)
