Anyone have any tips? My mother will be visiting around Thanksgiving, and I think she would enjoy dress shopping with me. Our wedding will be on the Big Island of Hawaii - Hilton Waikoloa Village - on September 12, 2006. I want to look like a bride, but I don''t want it to be too formal, and I don''t want to spend a fortune on the dress. He doesn''t want to wear a suit, so maybe he will wear some linen? I kind of like the idea of not wearing any shoes, but I''m only 5''2", so I look better in heels. I think I want something fitted and either strapless or halterlike - I''m really small (93 lbs), so I don''t want anything that will overwhelm me. Not sure about lengths. Anyone have any ideas?

I am small also. I find that curve hugging dresses fit me best and I reallly like mermaid and sheath dresses to look really nice on me. I really liked the bridal salon at Saks. Teresa (a saleswoman at Saks) is really good because she always tries to sell you a less expensive gown that looks more expensive, and takes every detail of your wedding into consideration when helping you pick a gown. I ultimately decided to have my dress made by Mon Atelier on La Brea beacause they make beautifull dresses and the emphasis is on what looks good on you body. You get more for your money because their prices (while high) include alterations (3 fittings) and the dresses never require any under graments. Good luck! Have fun!

I''m petite also (but I have a whole 1/2 inch on you) :)

My wedding dress was 3/4 length and kind of flowy on the bottom. I wore it with flip flops until I kicked them off.

Good luck!

Hello--if you''re looking for a store, the Alfred Angelo in LA is a huge store with a good variety of dresses with excellent prices.

Have fun shopping with your mom! Mine was just in town, with my aunt, and the three of us had so much fun with wedding stuff and it REALLY helped get a lot of details nailed down.

Have you checked out any of the stores that have Hawaiian wedding dresses? They''re REALLY informal for the most part, but fit your theme well. Here''s one I considered for my rehearsal dinner Link. I also like the dresses at J. Crew, and found some really simple wedding dresses at stores like Jessica McClintock. Other than that, I would still check out places like Mon Amie. Good luck!!!
