I am thinking of having CDs made as wedding favors. Has anyone received a CD as a favor or given CDs as a favor? What are your thoughts? I am thinking of going with ourweddingcd.com.

Does anyone have any experience with that company?

Thanks!

You may want to check copyright issues if you are putting recorded songs on a CD as it can be a problem - it may be different in the US, but here in the UK you have to get permission to even print words of some hymns in the order of service!

Personally, I''m not a big fan of cd''s as favours - it''s not really the thing I''d probably bother to listen to.

But that''s just me - other people may love the idea.

we are doing CD favors. They are already made. I''m not sure how they are viewed, but we wanted to do them. We decided to choose 10 of our friends and family''s wedding songs and put those on CD, including our wedding song.

I burned the CDs myself, but got the labels from myownlabels.com

I have received them before, and I have to admit that I never once listened. The songs were overly cheesy romantic stuff that I would just never ever listen to on my own. But I think it could be fun if you incorporated more popular stuff or perhaps some great classics. Just my two cents, of course...

I''ll start off with this - I''m the type of person that needs to take the thing home even if I have no use for it, partly because I don''t want the bride and groom to feel like it was a waste (even if it may have been) and partly because I''m a pack rat

That being said...I think if it was a mix of love songs that weren''t all the slow cheesy ones, I would honestly probably only listen to it at least once, save the songs to my computer and toss it. I know at our wedding it would be a waste since so many of our friends and family have ipods and what not.

So really the question is do you think your guests would like actually make use of them? If the answer is no your money is better spent elsewhere or on another type of favor if you really must have them.

I''m a fan of something you can eat or chuck in a drawer - hence why I''m doing herbal bags for your knicker drawer that aren''t overly feminine. They are designed to be forgotten and I won''t feel I''ve spent a load of $ that will end up gathering dust or in the bin.

I think it would be great to have a personal cd of wedding songs as a keepsake for myself and maybe very close relatives - can you dget one with say your website saved to it and the songs as a background?

Yeah, I have to agree that food is the best favor in terms of if you want the guests to actually use/appreciate it. You might come up with something that you think is just adorable but in reality most of your guests will probably throw it away anyway so you''ve wasted money for naught. There''s a reason chocolate is a really popular favor! I like the idea of something food related that maybe related to the location of your wedding. Like BBQ fixin''s for a Texas wedding, Maple sugar candies for a VT. wedding, candied apple for Washington State wedding, etc. There was just a great article on this idea in the most recent In Style or Martha wedding mags, cant remember which one! But I think it gave ideas for every state in the US. I thought any of those favors I''d actually use/eat so they wouldn''t be wasted. Just a thought...

My friend did this just a few months ago.... Her song choices were a mix of great classics and contemporary (not all slow, but all about love!) While I liked it and thought it was cute I don''t listen to it a whole lot. But my Mom does and has told me 100 times what a great idea it is. So maybe it''s a generational thing?

I don''t think you have to worry about copyright. If you go to livewire.com or something similar you could even download songs for free. Good Luck! And most of all, don''t over think it. If you like it, go for it.

Technically, you should be getting permission to use the song on your cd, but nobody does it. I have been to many weddings where they did that as favors.

The only time people actually keep the cd''s is when you pick songs that people like. I like Pandora keep them. Of the 7 I have in my collection listen to about half of the songs. Thanks to my ipod, I don''t even have to worry about the songs I don''t like. Make sure you pick some classics that you love, because chances are, other people will love them too.

I agree with the folks that say don''t make it cheesy.

I definitely plan to keep away from the cheesy ones...lol...I am thinking about more contemporary songs. If people pull the CD out in 10 tens years from now and pop it in I want them to say, "Oh yes this song was out and very popular in 2008!" Thanks for all the responses.
