I''m planning on having some sort of pink/blush color bridesmaid dresses and ties for the groomsmen. I guess you could say my wedding is pink except my table clothes will be white with a very light blue quilted runner on them and the flowers will be blush/pink colored in the centerpieces. I''m going for a marie antoinette classic look with antique teapots etc. I stole the idea from Martha Stewart Weddings.

Anyways, my question is this. What color should my invitations be? Are they supposed to be the primary pink color that the wedding willl be or can they be the pale blue color or....? I''m afraid if I pick too many colors I''ll undermine the underlying primary color. But on the other hand I"ve seen some very cute blue colored invites too. We just won''t be wearing any blue.

I think it would be fine to have the main color of your invites to be an accent color from your wedding. I wouldn''t add any all new colors in the invite if you are going for a specific color scheme, but a light blue invite would match nicely...especially if it is a light blue invite with some sort of pink accent.

My honest opinion? You are way, way, way overthinking this. If your invitations were green it wouldn''t in the slightest affect the beauty or coherence of your wedding day. It is really not necessary for your invitations to match your wedding day clothing.

If you want a total coherence and that''s important to you, blue is totally fine if you are using it as an accent colour. Why not? And I think a pink invitation sends a certain kind of message, i.e. "this will be a CUTE wedding!" which a blue one doesn''t (more "this will be an elegant wedding") so if you''d rather send the second message, which it sounds like you would with the whole Marie Antoinette thing, I''d go with blue anyway.

It''s a great choice and still ''matches''. No worries.

Thanks for the feedback!

And you''re right Indgal... pink DOES say cute and blue does say elegant. I like the distinction. I also like the idea of contrast. That''s one more decision I don''t have to fret over, yay!
