I''ve noticed at most of the weddings I''ve been to lately that wedding jewelrly tends to be fairly conservative. I always figured I''d always want that to, as I''m pretty conservative in most of the jewelry I own and in my wardrobe. But, I really like the idea of incorporating some bright blue topaz and lime green periodot into at least one piece of my wedding jewelry. Now, I''m not thinking huge pieces of jewelry, but decent in size with modern shapes. Those are my wedding colors, and since I''m not wearing a sash or carrying a bouquet in those colors, I''d like to incorporate the colors somehow, but in a subtle way. I was thinking maybe a three stone ring, or a beautiful pendant. What do you think? Is it tacky? Should I stick to diamonds and pearls?

That sounds like a great idea. I especially like the peridot thought. Peridot has such a light, subtle color... very feminine. I think that would look beautiful.

dutton''s diamonds has some lovely peridot... and ACstones has a gorgeous london oval blue topaz. I LOVE the idea. I would do a pendant and a ring, it were me.

I'm not sure of the style you're looking for, but I came across some pretty little things in a quick search...

What about a "row" of "cuff" bracelet.. the colour would really pop up against your dress, and in photo's where you are holding your flowers, or the traditional ring photo's you'd have a nice pop of colour.

Edit: Not in diamonds, but in the colours/stones you want,

I am totally for colorful and nontraditional jewelry. I myself am wearing a nontraditional necklace and I love it!

This looked nice too...

Aprilcait, i absolutely adore that necklace, where did you find it!

Thanks for all of your responses ladies. Aprilcait, I especially love the first necklace you posted. It looks so vintage. I would love something like that, but brighter. I talked to my mom about this, and she told me that one of her uncle''s is a jewler in India and could probably custom make some jewlery w/ topaz and peridot for me to wear. She''s going there in February and so she can meet with him then. Why am I only learning about him now??? More insiration pictures would be greatly appreciated!

Gwyn, I believe that was an Amazon find. I did a search for "blue topaz" and that popped up.

Sap, I cant remember what your dress looks like but to me, it really depends on the dress and the venue. There's a reason why wedding jewelry tends to be pearls, etc. They're considered "classic" and wont look dated in your wedding photos in years to come. That said, no reason you cant jazz it up with the wedding bling if you feel that that is "you". Maybe you can share a dress photo so we can see what it looks like again? I say this because depending on your dress style, something more vintage, but with color, might work better. The designs you posted are fairly contemporary for wedding bling, but if your dress is more contemporary than it might work fine.

I was just looking at the sale on Amazon and saw this blue topaz necklace ($79.99 down from $129.99) and thought of you...

I didn't want to start a new thread, so I figured I'd reply to this one instead. What do you all think of a necklace like this? That shade of blue and green are pretty close my wedding colors (with ivory and chocolate accents)- although ideally they'd be a bit brighter. I'll post a pic of my dress too.

This is my dress. Sorry I don''t have a pic of me in it yet, I should have one soon once it arrives.

I just wanted to add that this will be my one larger piece of jewelry. The only other things I plan to wear will be small studs, my e-ring and small antique brooches in my hair (I''m wearing my hair like Jessica Simpson, see pic below). My dress also is very plain without any beading.
