I''ve found that the single thing needed to survive planning a wedding is a sense of humor... lately I''m really glad I''ve got one!

My calligrapher went MIA this week... no idea where my place cards are at. Not sure if I can get replacement cards in time for myself to write them.

My dress has its own seat on the airplane since the airline insists that there''s no WAY I can get the stewardesses to put it in their forward closet.

Hair salon placed my appointment on the wrong week so when I showed up for my manicure, eyebrow torture, facial, and haircut yesterday, they looked at me like I was totally nuts (I am, but that''s beside the point. Surely they can''t see that right away!).

I can''t wait for Saturday. I can''t wait for *after* Saturday...

Keep laughing rfath!
I cannot believe you had to buy a seat for your wedding dress. That, on top of all else, is pretty crappy!
We''re behind you all the way!!!

I know--that sucks that you had to buy your wedding dress a seat on the plane! Hopefully it will at least get its own bag of pretzels & cold beverage. I think you should insist!

Sorry to hear about the last-minute hassles, but it sounds like you''re taking it in stride! Enjoy your big day on Sat. & relaxing afterwards!!!

Oh I''d demand the in-flight meal, the snacks and the drinks. *oink*

I think if it makes you feel better call and confirm your appointments and vendors and then go get a good rubdown.

well.. the wedding dress is also carrying its own luggage as well

At least my parents will enjoy lugging it through the airport. I can''t believe that the airline tried to tell me that it''s perfectly acceptable to toss it in with the rest of the checked luggage.

Laughing feels a lot better than freaking out. Fiance''s freaking... I wonder where he''s gone...

I think your outlook/attitude is great!

Everything will go perfect. No worries!

LOL *hugs* hang in there girl!!

rfath, you are a stitch!!!! I think that your dress should request her (she is a girl, yes?) own headphones, extra blankets, and a few double martinis on route as well. You have a WONDERFUL sense of humor, and it bodes well for your whole wedding AND marriage ahead of you! Good for you!!!

don''t forget, now you get 2 more carry-on''s for your pale "companion"

The bridal shop was none too pleased with the news, especially when they were told that the dress would have to be belted in and promise not to disturb the other passengers (I''m serious. I was read the riot act about the appropriate behavior for my dress).

Still no word from the calligrapher, but boy I''ll bet she''s surprised that I found her phone number.

Why does everyone keep calling me and telling me to just relax? Maybe I should put on a show for them so they can feel like I really AM freaking out...

Might as well enjoy the stories you''ll be telling your children WHILE they''re happening!

Have a wonderful wedding! (And just have your guests fill out placecards like nametags when they arrive.

I cannot wait to see pictures of your flowers!

.......the dress would have to be belted in and promise not to disturb the other passengers (I''m serious. I was read the riot act about the appropriate behavior for my dress).
This is one of the funniest things I''ve ever heard. I mean, what were they afraid of--that the dress will continually press the call button and verbally abuse the flight attendants? Practice its walk up and down the aisle and obstruct the drink cart? Kick the seat in front of it? Talk too loudly and disturb the other passengers? Lean its seat back before the fasten-your-seatbelt sign is turned off? Get up to go the the lav when turbulence hits?? WHAT!!!????? HILARIOUS!!!!!

rfath -- don''t feel bad about the dress. I had a similar situation, but with a VERY expensive formal dress. They insisted I check it, I was like: Are you on crack? I literally almost got in a fist fight with a very flamboyant male flight attendant. Looking back on it, it was probably pretty funny to watch, but I cried at the time.... :)

rfath (((hugs))). I cannot believe all you are going through. That makes me nervous about my wedding....argg.. It will be okay though. You are so close. Just keep laughing and know we are all wishing you the best!

Girl I feel you pain!
Original date had to be changed because someone booked our hall ten minutes before I called to book it
My Tacori ring disaster (see previous posts!) LOL
Fiance''s ring came in 1.5 sizes too big
The dress shop first snagged my dress, then lost it, then found it!
Our bagpiper skipped town and never gave us contact information
One of our groomsmen was deported!
The bridesmaid dresses all came in too big
Drove an hour to check out the "variety of green" covers at this one place to find out they had NO green of any type chair covers
First tiara came in missing rhinestones

And probably a bazillion other things went wrong...

Hang in there! We can say this because we are all going through it but it will work out for you!

(im still cracking up about the appropriate behavior of your dress on the plane)

I think I wore my dress just long enough for my inherent naughtiness to rub off... despite warnings, it did, in fact, annoy the passenger behind it. How the heck are you supposed to make it stay in its seat without folding it in half or letting it talk to the people in the other seats? I''m so disappointed in my dress... they were probably afraid to give it pretzels for fear that they''d get thrown at the other passengers and I''m sure it ordered wine for itself too... danged drunken wedding dresses...

The stewardesses saw the dress in the terminal and had held an overhead compartment for it, but my dad being the irritable grouch insisted that he wanted to put the dress on the seat he''d paid for. Once he apologized for being so rude, he told them the story about why the dress needed to be in a seat. They were horrified that the airline had forced them to buy another ticket and they got my parents a refund for that seat. So... not a bad experience overall... entertaining. And my fears that the dress wouldn''t fit proved to be silly. It''s uh.. actually too large now (maybe I should reward myself with a cookie...).

Calligrapher finally returned that phone call from the random strange chickie and will be overnighting the placecards tomorrow for a Friday delivery. Not the ideal solution, but at least I don''t have to write them out!

PnP.. you''ve definitely got me beat! I can''t imagine how frustrating that''s got to feel after a while. But then we get to have these contests to try to figure out who had the most adventures before their wedding!

Rube - never fear, I''ll make sure that plenty of pics get taken.. my florist is soooo excited about what''s she''s doing that I can''t help but be really psyched to see how everything looks.

Tacori - don''t worry... just leave the disasters to we professionals with the in with a guy named Murphy...

Well, you are a saint because if that happened to me even when it wasn''t my wedding, I''d be throwing a fit
20.gif
Maybe I need to learn a lesson for how composed you are even under wedding stress! I''m glad you got in touch with your calligrapher and for the nice people at the airport who got you the refund on your dress''s seat...too, too funny! I can''t believe they''d ask you to do that for your dress! I hope you took advantage of the checked luggage your dress had to travel with. I hope everything goes well for you this weekend, sounds like you''re prepared to handle everything with ease though

I am so glad it worked out!!!

rfath,
You are my hero. I wonder if I''m going to have to buy my dress a seat too? Hope I can roll with the punches as well as you have! I tend to be more of a Calamity Jane type.
What great perspective you have! And you''re funny too!!!!!

I''ll bet I''m even funnier looking..

the latest: the tux rental place, this HUGE national chain that I suppose has this down to an art by now... forgot to order my fiance''s tux.

*snort*

Seriously, I must have slept with Murphy in a previous life, because he really seems to like me now...

Have a wonderful wedding!

Dang! Murphy DOES seem to love you! Hope the tux situation works out...I hope it''s not the same huge national chain we''re using for our tuxes...

I just finished a really fun book called "Bride in Overdrive" by Jorie Green Mark. Morale of the story: don''t sweat the details of the wedding day. rfath, I think you''ve got a great perspective!!

HAVE A GREAT WEDDING! Enjoy your first day of marriage! Yippeee!!!!

more humor: the calligrapher forgot to do about 20 of the place cards, so I spent a while learning her letters and making up the difference before the rehearsal dinner. The chocolatier who did the wedding favors didn''t send the last box, so we were short quite a few favors.

Still funny!

Fiance finally saw, in the end, that those little details didn''t make a bit of difference in the end (and I got in the first ''told-you-so'' of the marriage).
