Hi the sapphire is a 1,5 ct natural celyon;I have the exact dimensions at home,as soon as I get off from work I'll give you the mm

thank you for your quick reaction! Do you (or other readers) perhaps have any clue as to whether it would be possible to modify the setting so as to accomodate a larger (approx 8 mm) round stone?

I don't think that's possible because the head is integrated in the shank,not a peg head.I guess the basket can be cut out and swapped with a peg one,but I'm no expert
