That is the dress that I am leaning towards.

SO's brother is getting married next month. It will be an indoor, daytime wedding in Northern CA. Since I will be there with all of his family, I didn't want anything "too" sexy, but I wanted something more interesting than plain jane. After all, I HAVE been dating SO for nearly 5 years, and I guess I wouldn't mind stealing just a half an ounce of attention from the bride.

I think the color lends that effect.

(I also know that SO's mom LOVES pink!) I like that it is feminine and classy, but not boring. I haven't tried it on yet, but I am loving the idea of it right now. Any thoughts?

*as an aside, my parents called me today on a conference call to "virtual dress shop" with me! (they are very excited and insist on buying the dress) We went through several sites, and this was the favorite of my dad and I. Mom likes it, but is leaning towards another. How cute are my parents!?! SO says they are just trying to marry me off... *shrug* Even thousands of miles away, you can't take the parent out of the parent!

wow, that dress is sassy.

i really like that dress!

the only concern I would have is that it has a crossover front. When I wear that style, I always end up showing a lot of cleavage as the crossover moves a bit. But as long as there is not too much cleavage, or, I should say, as long as you are comfortable with the amount of cleavage shown, I think that it would be perfect.

I'm a 34-36A/small 34B kinda gal, so cleavage is not really an issue... actually, it's more of a fantasy than a reality!

In this style of dress, I would essentially look like the model, more or less...

That dress is adorable!!! I''m in love with polka dots right now.

I think that''s a perfect dress for a wedding - very cute!

That color pink is my absolute favorite color...I think because it really flatters my coloring. SO YES! I say YES TO THAT DRESS!!!

Plus polka dots are very classic. Love it!

I support your decision to wear that dress.

I also support your decision to post pictures of the shoes you''re going to wear with it!

I love that dress! It''ll be perfect for a summer wedding! So fresh and fun

And I agree, you must post the shoes!!

Yes, this dress is very cute!

Beautiful :) definitely appropriate for a wedding :)

elledizzy and lisamarie,

I am going nuts about what shoes to wear... I think green or blue would look fabulous, but mom was suggesting black patent leather pumps. I think that the dress is loud enough that I don''t want the shoes to be too over the top, but I am want to look fabulous...

So basically, I am taking suggestions :) I''d love something strappy, but am open to anything. I''d like to spend no more than $100!

PSer''s, do your thing!

LOVE IT!! I agree with the shoes comments!!

How high of a heel do you want (or not want)? Is $100 your limit? If not, how far can you stretch lol??? I''ll look and see what I find. Where''s FREKE? This is really her area of expertise...

I vote GREEN!!!

Maybe not 264 bucks green, but green!!!

I love Kate Spade....

So we don''t have to keep copy/pasting the link....

I love that dress! If you were looking at blue shoes, what about these aqua ones? The heel is short but the little details are cute.

I love the dress....but.....doesn''t seem like something to wear to a wedding unless its on a beach.

What about something like this...here in white, or maybe yellow or light blue? Green might work too...but you said not too over the top. These are Michael Kors and a bit pricey but maybe something similar. JCrew has some nice styles that fit within your budget too.

I like the dress. It''s fun!

What about metallic coloured shoes?

When you say it''s an indoor wedding, is it in a church or other venue? I think it''s a cute dress, but I''m not sure if it''d be appropriate for a church wedding.

You said it was a day wedding correct? For daytime, it seems fine--esp since its summer. For an evening wedding, it might be a tad informal.

It really depends on whether the wedding is casual, semi-formal or formal...I think it works for the first two.

Hey - I lLOVE IT. Do it!
I think I may need to buy that dress too! I have WAYYYY too many black dresses, pink is NICE!

the wedding is early afternoon in a church, the reception is mid-afternoon, and the whole shebang will be over well before dark, so I thought I could get away with something bright and fun, ESPECIALLY in CA :)

I tried on the dress and LOVE the style, but I have to order it in pink, since they didn't have any left in the store. They also had a Pewter option that would be really elegant and more subtle, but unless they can track it down in a store, it is on back order until 8/11
7.gif
Oh well. I was really hoping they would have the pink one in store, because it was HALF PRICE! (still full price online)

As far as the church goes, I would of course wear a nice sweater over the dress or something along those lines. I figured a pearl necklace as well. For the reception, I could always switch to a pashmina or something along those lines (I have a great one in bright green, but then it would still depend on the shoes...). I personally would wear the dress to church with my parents any day. They would probably insist that I did! :)

I am not totally sure how much I want to stretch in terms of shoe budget, but those Kate Spade are pretty fantastic!

Bia - If I go with white, I am thinking strappy would be better, but I DO like those shoes, I have similar ones in bone. :)

Addy - I was thinking metallic might be good, but I was leaning towards gold, and my sister towards silver... which do you think would work better?

I do like the idea of something strappy, and high is good, every woman loves a long leg! I would like to be able to walk and dance however. I don't want to take a tumble in front of his whole family!

I know, me too. Now I just have to justify a reason to buy them

Did you check the JCREW ones? If they have white? They should be reasonably priced.

Are people supposed to specify the level of formality? I mean, if it is not explicitly stated, then what is the default?
33.gif
I can't be "formal" if they didn't say "Formal attire", right? Plus it's a daytime wedding. I usually see people at weddings in such mixed attire! I've only been to one where people we wearing formal attire, and that was only the bride's extended family...

Also, Bia, I did look at the shoes by J. Crew, but I got caught up with trying to track down this dress in the right color and size, and I think I have to decide the color before I can decide the shoes...

Of course, I could just get both dresses, and twice as many shoes

LOVE the dress. It seems perfect for the formality level of the wedding. As for shoe suggestions, Aldo has some perilously high heels in a bunch of gorgeous styles, and I have found their shoes to almost always pass the "dance all night" test. They are reasonably priced, and I would suggest getting the padded adhesive inserts they sell. They''re pretty much invisible and are a lifesaver for the balls of your feet. You are going to look totally "proposable"

Yay! I am SO excited!!! And I don't even LIKE going to weddings!

*heading to local Aldo in the morning!*

I LOVE LOVE LOVE that dress! It is absolutely perfect for the occasion. Your parents are adorable with the virtual dress shopping!

Now if you could just find those Kate Spade shoes at half price!

I say go for it.

To update, I have ordered the dress in pink, as shown above, and also in pewter (got it on SALE). I tracked the pewter dress down at a store near SO and had him pick it up today on his lunch break
9.gif
. He totally doesn''t get why I am making such a fuss over dresses... lol.

I can''t help but be excited, because every store that I have spoken to rants and raves about how fabulous the dress is and how it is flying off the shelves, and how it seems PERFECT for a wedding. I mean, are they paid to stoke my ego or what? Sadly, I have to wait a week for the dress to ship. Glad to have it on the way, though!

Now I just need to get these dresses so that I can pick SHOES!!!!

Hmm... should I wear my hair up, or down?

My hair is naturally curly (similar to this --> http://celeb14.tripod.com/lisanicolecarson/aaa_lisanicolecarson_2.jpg ), but shorter (darn haircut gone wrong!) and not as "polished" looking, lol.

I could:

a.) Straighten it (either straight or with body waves)
b.) wear it up and curly,
c.) wear it down and curly
d.) something else....
