Invitations suck!!!

I have to order more... 50 more!!! When we ordered, my mom had no clue how many work people my dad was planning on inviting from work (total came to about 30 including spouces), and somehow my grandmother''s sisters, (which there are 6 of!!), were left off the list. Ohh, and not to mention all the people from the country club, that got added... however, some drama did result in a few couples being removed, but only AFTER I had sent their names to the calligrapher.

As soon as these invites are in the mail I will be over this... ohh, but then I have to deal with ALL the RSVP accepts that will be coming in because apparently EVERYONE is coming to the wedding. Yes, I''ll put it to you like this, some of FI''s dad''s work friends from the oil fields overseas are flying in from the Netherlands, and a co-worker of my dad''s in GA, is flying in for a week long vacation with his family.

Don''t get me wrong I am very very excited about everyone being here and we will all have an amazing time; I just made a promise to myself that I wouldn''t let my parents pay more than a certain amount, so the more people that come, the more FI and I pay.

I''m one of those people that stresses about spending money until after the purchase, then I''m fine.

Do I sound like Mr. Banks yet

Ha! Anything to keep us going...all kidding aside, go ahead and vent! That IS frustrating. Do you have a system down for tracking the RSVPs as they come in? Hopefully once all the invites are out it will be smoother sailing.

Bia, I wish! Then I could just give some of it to my parents after the wedding as a thank you. Here in the south it''s registries and gifts. Here''s the tricky thing. I had a shower that had 50 guests, and another couples shower thrown by my parents friends that will have another 50 people. We have to ADD more things to our registry, becuase 1/3rd of it is already gone, and we haven''t even had the second shower!!!

bee*- It''s a serious pain, and serious waste of money. The rest should be here by June 1, and they are going to be hand addressed. I don''t even care. LOL!

Ordering more is such a pain! ... Wedding stress - Ugh.
I''m so excited for you though b/c it sounds like it is going to be a wonderful celebration!!

I should give a little shout out here... Though I hated doing it, Wedding Paper Divas made it EXTREMELY easy to buy more. They will be shipped next week, and here in less than 2. The process took all of about 10 minutes and did the entire thing via online chat.

Thank you WPD.

Hi Mere!

Are you going to have a Wishing Well at your reception? You know, the pretty decoration with a slit in it for people to place their envelopes, full of money, in. I wanted one and my Mom was mortified that I would dare put such a thing out....see, we Southerners DON''T get money for wedding gifts from most of the guests. We did receive checks from a few of our closest relatives in addition to gifts from our registry. DH and I registered for all sorts of things because we knew that is where the guests would go shopping.

Are you registered someplace where you can return your items for cash or gift cards? You may receive some things that you just can''t use.

Lori

Hang in there! Try to think positive...it could be worse!

Pilsn- I have not posted them yet. I will be picking the envelopes up from the calligrapher on Saturday morning, so I am waiting to post pictures after that!! I have no idea what we are going to add to our registry. We are going to be in an apartment, and I'm not sure what else we would even benefit from. We're probably going to add some bigger gifts, that hopefully poeple will "go-in on" together, instead of all buying separate gifts. Who knows?
Squirrly- Thank you for the well wishes!
loriken- *side bar* Your AV makes me smile everytime I see it!! Did you see him get ejected last night??

We hadn't talked about a wishing well. We are going to have a card box, but not sure if that is the same thing as a wishing well. I'll have to google it. I haven't checked the return policyat the our registry stores. Soemthing else I need to look into. We got like three full sets of pyrex at the shower, so I did get a few multiples that can be returned, but I wasn't expecting to get so many of our "big" items at the shower. I thought ppl usually got like $50 gifts for showers, and then the higher gifts for the wedding. Guess my ways are a bit antiquated.

laughwithme- Thanks hun! I try my hardest to live by that phrase!

OK... So unbelievably stoked, I have to share...

Just got my invoice from the calligrapher, and for 149 inner and outer envelopes, the total came to.... *drumroll* $223!!!!

Meresal-Sorry you are bummed out, but like other have said, THIS OF ALL THE GIFTS!!

Unfortunately I had a kind of opposite problem, FI''s mom barely invited anyone! I didn''t want anything to be lopsided my family vs. his, but she says that her work friends and extended family don''t know Jason so why should she invite them...

I got over it because it did save me money but it just felt weird at the time.
