So FI and I made our own invitations last night in Photoshop, and I''ll post a picture in a minute! We are having a friends/parents/siblings only wedding (about 30 people) so our invitations, along with everything else, is not exactly "traditional"

FI is a web developer, and we''d like to make the invitation more web-based. The invitation to the ceremony is pretty traditional, but instead of having the rsvp cards, and reception information cards, we''d basically like everyone to just go to the website that we''re making. No worries, everyone invited is quite capable of using the internet, and everyone has internet access.

Any ideas on how to do that properly? The website card would (I''m guessing here, and please make suggestions if you can think of something better) mention that the reception is immediately following, and to RSVP on the website. We''ll then list the website name. On the website we''ll have all the details for the reception, including parking, nearby hotels, registry information, and a link to RSVP. Probably other items too as I think of them.

Ok clearly this idea is still in it''s developing stages, as I don''t even have an idea of how I want to word this on the card. All suggestions welcome!

I sort of did the same thing. I got a DIY invitations package from Michaels that had 2 inserts. I used one for the "formal" invite (so and so, along with their parents etc...) and then I used the insert for some of the details. We are having a DW so the insert was used to say where we were staying, who to contact to place the deposit, etc... Then I added something like this - To RSVP and to keep up on all the planning, visit our website at blahblahblah.com. The website also contained all the info my guests needed. A link to the resort and a link to the travel coordinators website and contact emails. You can place directions to the venue and have the menu or meal preferences listed. You can make it all your own. Plus, with your FI being a web guy, it will look fantastic!

So far it''s been really good. Everybody who has placed their deposit has RSVP through the website. I think the website idea is great! Myself, I tend to lose/misplace things so when I get a wedding invite in the mail with a seperate little RSVP card, I always lose it and then just end up calling or emailing the couple to let them know that I am coming. Also, this way you don''t have to pay for the postage on your guests'' cards.

Good luck!

We did this too. We sent out invitations that had inserts instead of RSVP card. One insert said RSVP at the top and then "Please visit our website www.ourwebsite.com to RSVP and find more wedding details. Please kindly reply by RSVP Date." The other insert just had the addresses for the ceremony and reception.

So many of our guests have commented on how great the online-rsvping was and also just about how helpful the website is in general. Good luck!

Thanks guys! That helps a lot!

Here''s our invitations that we made last night...

Haha! I told FI that I think I am supposed to go first.... he apparently didn''t listen.

Maybe I''ll mention it again tonight. I''m almost positive bride should go first, right?

Your invitations look great!! I also think the bride usually comes first but don''t know for sure...

Cool invites! Sounds like you guys are tech savvy...why don''t you include one of those business card size CDs...you could set it up to launch the website immediately when you put it in the computer and you could even add some other media to it - maybe some songs or some pics!!

Great colors! So, are you thinking about adding the website and information about it on the invitation itself or as an insert? My FI is a computer scientist, so we actually formatted our insert as an FAQ. It was kinda cheesy, but so are we, and our guests got a kick out of it. You could do something like that and put a blurb about why it is meaningful to the two of you to have a more interactive/web-based wedding. You could also format the site more like a blog, too, so that your users could make posts and comments if you think they would really get into it.

yea, the bride normally goes first
