Weekend Workout Thread 9/17&9/18

I got off to a late start this morning in terms of exercise. I had 2 eggs and two slices of bacon for brunch but I did not finish my eggs. I then waited a bit and went 5.17 miles. I had 15lbs around my waist. I think unless I am jogging I need to be using the weights everytime I go out in order to add some resistence. The scale rather rudely informed me this morning that I have only lost half a pound since Monday...but still half is better then nothing. How is everyone else doing?

Intro about me on this subject: I've always battled with my weight. I'm not obese, but certainly not skinny! My problem areas are my waist/tummy/hip areas. Otherwise, everywhere else is just fine (OK- more toned would be great!). Think big middle, and normal-sized arms and legs. Anyway, I lost about 30 pounds 3 years ago, which put me around a size 6-8 (yahoo!) I finally found out what works for me: eating 5-6 small meals a day consisting of high protein, LOW carbs/sugar/fat (not non!), and about 4-5 days/wk of solid cardio, and 3-4 days/wk of strength training. I fell off the wagon last summer- right about the time I met my BF (coincidence?). And since then I've slowly gained about 15 pounds- I don't really know 'cause I refuse to weigh myself, but I'm now a size 10-12 (depends on the day) I felt gross and disgusted- but not distgusted enough to do anything. I have been doing South Beach for the last month or so, but not hard-core, and I haven't worked out at all. At least I'm getting back to healthy eating, which is boosting my self-esteem.
Something in me snapped earlier this week, and I finally went back to the gym last tuesday. I did about 45 minutes on the treadmill- power walking/sprinting. It felt great!!! I also REALLY began watching what I ate. Unfortunately, I didn't make it back for the remainder of the week, as I was on the road for biz. But I did make it today! Another 45 solid minutes on the treadmill, and a couple of weights. Diet today has been on track, but I am heading to a friend's engagement dinner party tonite where the food will be Italian- family style. Wish me luck!

I am feeling pleased with myself so far, I had 3.5 ozs of roast beef with vegtable salt for dinner, and a little cup of strawberry applesauce for dessert

. I was going to have fat free yougurt but it turns out to have more calories and more carbs, not a plus in my book. I did half an hour of weights while watching a bit of TV. So not too bad of a way to spend the evening. I resisted temptation and took a pass on going out to dinner with friends, I cannot behave myself when I go out so I think I will be spending more time studying and less time out with friends at least for now.

Where are Milly, FFF, Buena Girl, Amanda Panda, Ms Flutter, Amber Gretchen, and the rest of our little gang? I hope everyones weekend is going well.

My ten minute workout solution has gone MIA...so I have been looking for something new. Has anyone ever tried Core Secrets? It seems like it could work well and I found an informercial reveiw site and most people say they like it and that it can indeed be done in your home.
Oh and I feel off the eating thing tonight...I ate half a Godiva bar and a fruit roll up...but I threw out everything else that had been in my "emergency" rations I really dont need to have those in the APT.
 
I rode my bike to the gym yesterday and did 40 minutes on precor, fairly impressive. My bf and i went to a concert and ate dinner at a bar beforehand. I only had chix wings, which as horrible as it sounds, couldve been worse! This bar has the best pulled pork and mac n cheese....yummy!

Have to work all day today and then have dinner plans with an old friend. So i need to just do ok. I''m not expecting today to be perfect. This week actually, we have 2 more concerts and a trip to milwaukee for a cubs.brewers game. ouch!

I''ve been thinking about that core program too, you''ll have to let me know what you think of it. One of things I''m looking forward to in the new house rental is having the space to work out at home and since I can work out on the first floor there''s no more worry I''m going to fall through the floor

I have nothing good to report in diet and exercise land, we went to BJs last night and bought way too much bad food..I could live on ice cream sandwiches and starbucks bottled frappuccinos.

Great job on the walking...if you keep track of all those miles it will be like you walked across the country and back!
 
Well I did good and bad today...Bad I went to a movie and had the SUPER HUGE Diet Coke while I was there

then we went off and had Olive Garden where I ate too much salad and half a chicken breast.

The good is that I just went 8.71 miles with the same friend and I think I may have roped her into being my workout buddy!

Neither of those sound really bad to me, at least when you look at the options. You couldve had a slushie and a box of buttered popcorn, and a bag of m&M''s, tons more carbs, sugar and fat. And at olive garden come on, at least you didnt get the bottomless pasta bowl, I am so lucky there is no olive garden in the city limits. I would definately be in trouble. I love pasta.

I went to a friends to watch the emmys. I ordered a salad and a chix pasta from leoanas....it wasnt even that good. At least we didnt open a bottle of wine. Today is a new day....but I have already slept in and cant make it to the gym till after work. OOOPs.
