Welcome back, Skippy! Your pictures are wonderful and are nice reminders of my past trip to France and those familiar sites!

Neatfreak, wow, how nutty to see him on the roof. Do you know what he was doing there? Whooo hoo another Gaudi lover; his buildings and furniture are so amazing.

I am guessing he was just trying to be out of the US after the election fiasco. It was in January I think right after the 2000 election, and he looked SO horrible, the only reason I even realized it was him was because I noticed all the social security guys! And I can''t wait to meet you

If you''re here in May I should be done with school by then, so I should be able to come down for a day even in the middle of the week!

Oooh beautiful photos Skippy! Glad you had a fab trip. Welcome back

Yay, Skippy!!!!! Your pics are amazing, and it looks like you had so much fun!

Yikes, we leave for Italy on the 13th - it''s getting so close! I wish we were heading to Paris and Barcelona - but there''s always next time!

Skippy!!

Welcome back!

I''ve been wondering where you have been and have missed seeing your posts. I guess I must have missed the thread where you discussed going away so at some point during the week, I actually remember feeling worried that you were ill or that something was wrong with you because you just were nowhere to be found.

I''m glad you''re back and that you had a fantastic time on your trip - you make PS a great place with your positive vibe and ever so pleasant disposition.

Thanks for sharing the pics as well ... they are terrific!

What great shots.

I love Europe. It has such a cool energy. Is Barcelona as nutty as people say in terms of eating dinner at midnight etc?

BTW, Gaudi''s work gave us the term gaudy...but I love his aesthetic.

The dollar is terrible, was it horrible to see the prices of things?

You should take photos for travel books! Each place looks more wonderful than the last!

Yayy! Skippy is back and has come out to play!

It never registered with me that you were gone, Skippy. Now that you have returned, I can discern that you do appear to have been missing from threads, however. I'm sorry to be so clueless.

I want to say that I thoroughly enjoyed your travelogue; that you are physically beautiful (which I already knew from other photographs) with a wonderful smile; and that both the photographs of you and the photographs you take appear to show the same sunny, "can do" approach to life that your written postings on Pricescope do. I remember Versailles as a dead bore. You managed to get some shots of it that are really lovely. I would have been too lazy to bicycle or climb...and I didn't know one could climb inside the l'arc de Triomphe! Your zest for life makes everything interesting!

Skippy your photos are lovely. Paris is such a lovely city and only 4 hours by train from where I live in the middle of England. I did suggest going there for shoes for my wedding but my F1 isn''t too keen!

the only reason I even realized it was him was because I noticed all the social security guys!

I hate it when cashiers in grocery stores ask if I get a senior discount. I can't imagine what it would be like having social security guys with me 24 hours a day.

Welcome back! Did you go to Fauchon in Paris?

Thank you all for your kind words and sweet welcomes Diamondseeker, Chrgr, Linda, Zoe, Snlee, Bee, Laurenthe Partier (have fun in Italy), sweet Sparklicious, Deb, Samantha Red, Harriet, and Michelle ((SDL) I will put you in my bags next time)!!!

I am glad you enjoyed the pics, thank you!

Linda, the food was yummy in Paris; the food wasn't as good in Barcelona, but France is world renowned when it comes to delicious cuisine.

The pastries were amazing; it was bad

hubby and I would have a au Pain Chocolate (Chocolate Croissant) each morning!!!

hehe I also ate at a Creperie that Chargergirl recommended and it was delicious; they really know how to make cheese, breads, and wine!! Also, out front of the Eiffel tower I bought a chocolate nutella crepe and it was delicious w/the nutella drizzled all over the crepe, yummy. hehe One night we sat near a couple from England and we all talked about the food we were eating; they were a wonderful couple and it was so awesome because they had been married 50 years and they were on holiday to watch Rugby Tournament in Paris for fun!!!

Harriet, I did got to Fauchon but honestly I didn't think it was worth all the hype. It was fun to look around and taste stuff for myself though, since I had heard about it. I did go to a wonderful bakery called Polaine's and that was delicious and same w/Angeline's Cafe with their amazing hot chocolate and pastry's.

DiamondFan, I also love Gaudi's eyecandy; seeing each building left me craving more! You said "the dollar is terrible, was it horrible to see the prices of things?" I want to answer this question in case others are continplating going to Europe; it is doable, but you do feel it when you are there. Things that cost $50 in Euro's cost about $75 or 100 euros is $150 in American dollars so you sort of have to keep that in mind. We would end up spending lots to eat out and do things, but it was a special occassion so it was totally worth it and we were aware of it and budgeted for this. I think if we go on any future trips I will keep in mind how strong the dollar is in that particular country; I do plan to travel in the US. Thanks for asking and hopefully this might help someone else.

Also, I have been to Europe 2 times before, so I also think back of what it was like then. I am hoping our economy will improve soon!

Deb (AGBF), thank you for your kind words and I feel the same about you! I try to have a zest for life and I appreciate you saying that! I did not know you could climb the Arc de Triomphe either until I read Chargergrl's Paris thread and knew I had to check it out for myself!

Neatfreak, I am excited to meet you too! I totally have jetlag brain going on so I meant to say something earlier.
Monnie, Ellen, DeeJay and Jas, I can''t wait to meet you all! I am there the last week of May!!

Diamondfan, I meant to comment on the food in Spain. They have lots of restaurants from cafes, to tapa bars, to nice sit down restaurants. Lots of places are open but typically they do eat later, but it does not mean you cannot find food. I was a little worried about that, but it didn''t happen.

Oh Skippy your photos are fabulous!!! I have been off having fun on Maui for two weeks and I missed this thread. I am so glad that you had a wonderful trip and I''m pleased that you guys enjoyed Barcelona and Monserrat. The Gaudi architecture must be seen to be believed and Monserrat is a really special place. You make me want to go to Paris. I love your pictures of Versailles! We have been several places in France, but somehow we''ve never made it to Paris. You are right though the exchange rate is brutal these days so I''m not sure when we''ll make our next trip to Europe. Welcome home.

welcome back, Skippy.

wow- thanks for all the beautiful pics!

WoW Skippy! Your photos are amazing! I''d love to see more

Cool pictures Skip!! Did you know that you and I went on practically the same vacation when I went about 4 years ago? I have some of the identical pictures from the same places.

I started in Paris, went to Barcelona, then Madrid, and then day trips to Toledo and Segovia (sp?). It was an incredible trip!!! You must have had an awesome time!

Skippy~ I just went through your pics again and they are just beautiful. I had to post because in the bottom of the third pic, there is a guy who has a striking resemblance to Hugh Laurie.

What great pics Skippy! Thanks for sharing! You look like a model climbing the trail! I''m so glad you had a wonderful time.

One quick photo for hubby. He said I looked happy wandering the Champs Elysees (longest shopping street) ending at the Arc de Triomphe; who wouldn't be happy?!?!? hehe
