Thanks to responding to my "hello" thread! Shopping fiasco below
Amy -- you''re so right about the Christmas holiday. Before ours, I got the nerve to ask him if it was ok to have my hopes up or not (well, actually before our anniversary, which was 12/4) and he said I shouldn''t. He usually says it how it is, but I still hoped for the surprise. Got a beautiful amethyst and diamond bracelet Sucks to be diasappointed about that, you know??
Kalispera-- he is SO great with the boys and you are so right about the importance of that. I cannot take that for granted ever b/c there are people that would give a limb for that kind of commitment from a "to-be-step-dad" He''s awesome, just slow
Latest development ---went to the jeweler''s today to look at stones (BF has a weird schedule this week) -- I told him I wanted to do something and didn''t say what and he just drove there -- I couldn''t help but smile at that. Then it went downhill. Not a single pear there, but 2 beautiful ovals (my other fave). So I''m waiting for the guy to check on a stone for me and I look around for my setting. Yes it''s there, but it was twice as much!! I''m SO not kidding. I was in shock and then instantly hurt and mad at the BF b/c this is one of the very few places I know of that actually HAVE layaway (instead of credit) and we picked this last NOV and he has done nothing about it!
The good thing is that the jeweler is really cool and explained that price of gold went up but that it was priced too much, but these were 1a diamonds instead of 2a (which were in the particular band I looked at originally). He wants to grant the price, but he needs to make sure he can do it by ordering the other one and so he''s going to call me and let me know for sure. In the meantime, while the BF and I were waiting, I told him that if our guy decides to give us that price, he probably will need to decide if he (BF) is going to buy it (or hold it or anything!!!) or not -- I doubt the jeweler will let us wait on it. I expected that would not be an issue -- my BF knows that this is the band I love and it''s also a good deal compared to others like it we looked at (name brands). He said he didn''t come there today to make a purchase. Just like that, over and out. And, no, it''s absolutely positively not b/c he''s already nought it. He hasn''t.
So I have just been feeling crappy ever since. I remember how excited we both were when we found this band -- I could get what I really wanted at a price we could manage --- today I feel like all the air was knocked out of me. I don''t even know what to say to the jeweler (tim) when he calls --- "hi tim, thanks for standing by your original price 5 months later, but we''ll pass" ??!
Sorry to rant, I just feel really sad right now
