I have been engaged since september last year and went shopping today for the first time with my MOH (my niece) my other BM bailed but that''s another story. Didn''t really know what to expect went with an open mind tried on a gazzillion dresses - still haven''t found one that makes my heart sing but did find some with potential - not sure what to even try on so any suggestions for an hourglass/slightly pear shaped figure feel free to throw them this way

Found out

* Wedding dresses as a rule seem to be really flattering

* It is IMPOSSIBLE to take photo''s which sucks cause I want to share and I want to see how these dresses photograph.

* For some reason even though I specifically stated I didn''t want a strapless dress each consultant put me in them for essentially each dress, my niece thinks the strapless looks good, me not so sure plus every girl I know that has married has worn strapless - I hate my arms as well so that doesn''t help

* Maggie Sottero dresses look much better IRL

* I love LACE with a passion

I did try the following dresses and liked aspects of them

http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=R1030HC - the train is BEAUTIFUL

http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=S5163SA - pretty but not as pretty as the ruby but it makes waists look really tiny

http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=A3120 - understated but nice, very elegant on

I also tried on the most stunning shimmery sparkley organza gown and a beautiful one with a pearl beaded bodice

in here http://www.darbbridalcouture.com.au/ but it is out of budget the second one down looks kinda like the one I tried on

Not sure of the point of this post as I don''t have pics guess I just wanted to share LOL.

Hahaha, hey, I''m very glad you decided to share--that was a big event that just happened, photos or not!

I know EXACTLY what you mean about not really wanting strapless, but it seems like that''s what''s out there for 99% of the dresses. I''ve been trying to wrap my brain around having a shrug to go with it or some sort of wrap...hate my arms too, bleh.

Anyway, so happy you went!!! When do you go again?

Out of the three you posted I think the Ruby is the nicest plus you like lace.
Also, lace makes the dress look more romantic ( but I''m biased I''m a lace lover).

Maggie Sottero gowns are lovely, but pretty heavy to wear, I also love how the majority of Maggie''s gowns have the lace up back, which gives a a better comfort fit.

I love Maggie Sottero gowns...

Out of the three you posted I think the Ruby is the nicest, its very elegant while still looking rather sexy.

i like number 1 and number 3! im not crazy about number 2. the details make 1 look very delicate. i don''t normally love lots of beading, but here i think its gorgeous!! and the third one is so flowy. it is SO similar to a dress i tried on, and the fit was incredibly flattering!

I love the first one, Ruby. It''s gorgeous! I know that if you really want to have something with straps, Maggie Sottero sells the cap sleeves / straps seperatly. If you find a dress by Maggie that has the detachable cap sleeves that match your dress somewhat, (which most are) you can order them and have them sewn onto your dress. This is what I did for my Casablanca gown, because I really needed to support.

I''m with Cocolaw! 1 and 3 are amazing dresses!!!!

I love the first Maggie Sottero dress - it''s the one I would wear out of all of them. I think I must be an unusual bride because I don''t want a train but every dress I fall in love with has this long heavy train that I really can''t stand

my vote is for #1 ruby! it''s just gorgeous!

how did it feel on you?

Maggie Sottero is fantastic, isn''t she?

I also like the Ruby. All three are gorgeous choices, though!

Thanks Gwen :) I think i will attempt to go on the weekend again or next, I haven''t had the momment yet...though I did get butterflies kinda when I was wearing the sparkly organza (it shimmered like a diamond but so subtle

) when the designer placed the tulle around my shoulders to show me a different neckline - unfortunetly over 4.5k for a dress is out of budget I think...

diamonddarling and Dannielle I agree of the ones posted the ruby to me was the nicest, the sonya is beautiful as well but I love lace so in that regard it wasn''t me. For anyone considering the ruby the train on that dress is just stunning, the scalloped edges are *swoonable* and it is really flattering on hippy girls (aka myself) LOL. I do agree the maggies are heavy but they fit really well.

cocolaw and SassyB I agree on the beading thing usually I am not a fan but it was very nicely done, number 3 shocked me by how thin it made me look the boning does wonders

anniee19 Thanks for the suggestion :) I will keep that in mind :)

Londongirl1 If you don''t have a dress yet I would suggest trying that one on it is really elegant, you can always get the train removed but I have to say part of that dresses beauty is the scalloping

ficklefaye Considering I tried on a sz10 and I am not one it was actually really comfortable I tried it on twice but it didn''t give me the feeling not sure what that is however it is one of the four on the short list the other 3 being the sonya and the two from Darb

Elle Maggie dresses are beautiful, I am surprised how well they are made they do great things I think after much consideration today I am getting an idea of what I want more now just to find a dress that does all those things :)

Oh yay! That is exciting and fun!!! I really like all the dresses, but the Ruby is probably my favorite too! It is just so sparkly and gorgeous!!!!

So, I have to ask, and this is off topic... What is with so many girls having this pink shoe avatar all of a sudden??? What am I missing?
