On one hand, I''m kind of sad because the trip to the Azores we had been planning isn''t likely to happen after all. It''s super expensive right now and we don''t want to come home broke. We want to be practical and there are a few things we''ll be saving for right after our return (a house and possibly kids). If we go to the destination we had originally thought about, we''ll be able to save so much more. So, where are we going?

Quebec City!

We''re excited because it''s a gorgeous city and it will be a very meaningful trip. When we began dating 4 years ago, we went away for NYE to QC and loved it. It was a very romantic trip and because it was our first time away together as a couple, it meant a lot to us. We knew we wanted to go back someday (we don''t live all THAT far from QC).

We''re going to stay within the walls of the Old Town -- it''s so beautiful. It''s also QC''s 400th birthday and I''m sure there will be lots of festivals, etc. to see. That should be fun!

Yay! I was there just a month or so ago and it really is so beautiful and charming. I think it''s a great decision.

That will be so great, I''ve heard it''s beautiful!!

We aren''t doing the beach thing either, we are driving from Calgary to Vancouver, through the mountains and the gorgeous landscape of BC!! Yay for Canadian honeymoons!!

I love it there.
I don''t know what you are looking at in terms of price, but without question Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac is the place to stay. It is a replica French castle that overlooks the entire city. The pool is high up and lovely and the food is great. http://www.fairmont.com/frontenac
It is so lovely there, have a wonderful time and know that I am jelous.

Thanks for the suggestion, BIH! We''ve already made reservations at another hotel, which is apparently pretty close to the Chateau Frontenac.

Karasue, your honeymoon trip sounds like fun! How far is Calgary from Vancouver? I''m not as familiar with Canada as I feel like I should be. It sounds like you''ll see beautiful scenery along the way.

Indy, that''s right -- you met Anchor on that trip, right? She had suggested a few places that we check out a while back when we first were considering QC. I''m excited to go in the summer. We''ve only been once and it was winter -- it was beautiful but a little chilly. I''m looking forward to walking around more in the warmer weather.

Cool-Quebec is meant to be gorgeous. You''ll have an amazing time. There''ll always be time to visit the Azores.

Oooh, that does sound really nice. I''ve only been to Montreal and Nova Scotia in Canada, but I loved both and really want to get to QC someday too. How long will you spend there?

Sounds like it will be a very romantic trip! I know not having your originally planned trip must be disappointing, but it looks like things are going to work out wonderfully!

Thanks Bee and Sabine!

Selkie, did you take the CAT to NS from Maine? We thought of doing that but it''s a 5.5 hour trip from Portland and I''m too afraid of getting seasick. I think we would LOVE Nova Scotia so hopefully someday I''ll get the courage to try the CAT.

We made reservations at the hotel for one week. I think that gives us plenty of time to explore the city and the surrounding areas. We thought of heading over to Montreal and heading home from there but I''m not sure we''ll do that.
