FI and I just booked our honeymoon-- 2 weeks in Bali in December!! I'm beyond excited...anyone out there have any tips??!

There are tons of cheap hotels that are run by families (under $50 per night) they don't have all the bells and whistles that a lot of the resorts have but they are beautiful.

Bring an umbrella! That is wet season.. I went to Bali in January a few years ago and it was mostly okay, but we did get caught in a few torrential downpours, It was usually really muggy and humid during the morning and then it would rain in the afternoon for a while which would break the humidity a bit.

Also, don't stay in Kuta. I have stayed there twice now, and hated it! It is just too hectic and busy. Stay elsewhere and maybe just go for a day trip to Kuta one of the days you are there.

Finally - with haggling, you WILL get ripped off on your first purchase. I would say have a look around and see what people are paying for things before you start to shop. Also, if you say 'maybe later' they WILL remember and they will hassle you later as they take that as a promise! Just tell them that you are not interested or 'tidak mau' (don't want - hopefully my indonesian hasn't failed me with the grammar, but they will understand).

That's AWESOME!!! I can't wait to hear all about it. H.O.T. has posted some valuable information. I'm interested in going there myself, so...all this info is great!!

No tips or advice, but wanted to say CONGRATS!!! Booking the honeyomoon is so so fun! I am sure you will have an amazing time!!

I would say: make sure you get out of southern Bali (i.e. Kuta/Seminyak/Legian area). Its sooo touristy down there that you hardly know you are in Bali. Try to make it up to Ubud (and Tegallalang)...great shopping and rice terraces!) or along the eastern coast (Amed, Tulamben, Gunung Agung, Tirtagangga, Kintamani). You can take day trips to outer areas from these places. I'd recommend a few days in the south (maybe 3 days in Seminyak or Legian), then head up to Ubud (we easily spent a week there), then head over to the east for a few days (stay in Amed maybe) and then back towards Denpasar. In two weeks you could pick three maybe spots to stay and then easily take day trips from there. You will constantly be approached by drivers willing to take you on day tours and can bargain for such service. Gook luck!
