We wanted to create something special for my mom's 60th birthday. We're taking the ladies to a special nightclub for a "Diva's Night Out" and are presenting her with this pendant. I haven't seen it in person yet. Hopefully, it will be here just in the nick of time (to be picked up right before the party---Yikes!). The pendant was started but wasn't turning out as ordered so Lesley stopped production and had the jeweler start over. I don't have a good camera so there probably will not be anymore photos. The pendant contains 1/2 carat of ACA melee.

Wow! You''re fast on that reply button! LOL I edited and then thought to add that the chain should be an 18" with a loop at 16" and a lobster clasp.

happy birthday to your mom lawmax!

Your Mom will love that. It is simply beautiful. Tell her we at PS wish her a very happy birthday with many more to come.

Hi Belle,

The pendant is supposed to be about the size of a quarter. We are going to a New York style club called the Diva''s Lounge. They have theme nights and some out there ones with tarot readers and hookahs. There are free salsa dance lessons on the night these women are going. My sister and I were going for something whimsical (we almost did Lucky Chang''s-drag queen restaurant-so fun). There have been too many ladies'' lunches!

I''ll let you know what she says about the pendant.

BTW, I was in a camera store last month and the salesman insisted that for the lightweight Olympus camera, I''d need a little tripod to get jewelry photos in macro mode. Do you all find this to be the case?

I finally got to see the pendant last night. It's very pretty and mom loves it.

The party was a blast! The "tables" were actually couches and comfy chairs around glass coffee tables. Very dark, very nightclub and the food and service were excellent.

Congratulations, Lawmax. That is a very special piece of jewelry. It is nice to be able to give something special back to your parents (at least if they have been good, loving parents to you). I am having something (far simpler) made for my mother right now. Please note that I grabbed my halo since it was to you that I was speaking!

Hi Deb!

Thanks for the sweet words. Since my parents are divorced, my mom doesn''t have a husband to buy her beautiful things so we wanted to fill in the gap.

I hope you''ll post what you are having made for your mom when it''s finished.

I''m glad you grabbed the halo. (I don''t know if there is anyone who has been around long enough or would remember the reference!) You wear it well! (Of course, I know the Truth!!!

I just looked up when you joined Pricescope. You are member number 11!!!! I believe that was slightly after Adam and Eve. You have been around a long time! (On the other hand, I blanched at the idea that you had a 60 year old mother because I always considered you a contemporary, but it turns out I am really a contemporary of your mother!)

LOL

Number 11? Frankly, I''m not quite sure that''s accurate! I showed up with the dinosaurs. :D

Deb, my mother was very young when she had me. I just had a birthday and I''ll say nothing more!

I have the Olympus C-7000 and love it, but they are right about the tripod. When taking photos in macro mode, I attach a mono-pod because there is no way I can hold my hand still enough to get a clear shot.

a tripod is good. you can also set the camera on a flat surface and use the timer, that way there is absolutely no movement at all.

Thanks for the information about camera tripods. I had never read that people here used them when taking all of these beautiful photos...on hands, on flowers, etc.

I was looking at the Olympus...I forget which model but it''s the 7 megapixel one. It seems like a great camera. :)

i''m too lazy (stubborn?) to get out a tripod, so it is possible to take pictures without one and have the pictures still come out clear. they are helpful though...especially if you''ve had too much caffeine

Lawmax your mother''s necklace is now part of the WF gallery here on PS, and it is a lovely picture too!

That''s great.

Matatora: I love your signature phrase. :) It''s Truth.

I''m sooo glad your mom loved it and that she had such a special birthday. You are sooo sweet!!!!

I wish I could take credit for it...but it belongs to my hero. Amelia Earhart. The full qoute is "Courage is the price that life extracts for granting peace. The soul that knows it not knows no release from little things" It really helped me when I was learning to fly...
