So I feel like there''s something major I''m overlooking that I should be doing right about now (appx 7 months left until the wedding). Here is what I have done so far, please let me know what I''m missing:

- Booked Venue (Ceremony and Reception- site includes catering)
- Ordered Dress
- Booked Photographer
- Booked Florist
- Picked out Bridesmaid Dresses
- Sent out Save the Dates

Here is what I''m currently working on finding/booking and hope to have done before the end of the year:
-DJ
-Ceremony/Cocktail Hour music
-Officiant

I know I need to book the Honeymoon and start looking at attire for the boys. Is there anything else I should be doing ASAP?

Thanks ladies!

Have you thought about invitations yet? I know I''ve come across several printers/designers that can require significant lead time (several months) before delivery. If you''ll being doing DIY, handwriting anything, etc, you''ll probably want some time to get them finished without going crazy from a time crunch.

How busy/booked have the vendors you''ve contacted been in general? That might give you some idea whether you should really hurry for the other details. I''m 9.5 months out, and we''ve discovered our wedding date/time is apparently really popular and already unavailable for a lot of vendors. So possibly less urgent, but maybe ask one or two vendors from each for a better idea in your area:
Do you need to block hotels for any of your guests?
Transportation (be it for you and your groom, wedding party, your guests...)
Wedding Cake

Hi sap,

I''m a little closer to the wedding (5 1/2 months) and it sounds like you''re on track (at least compared to what I was doing that far out). I would explore DJ''s ASAP. Also, I would start thinking about decoration/theme. This will help you when you sit down to design your centerpieces, cake, and invites.

Hi Sap,

I''m 7 months out as well, and what you''ve done looks good to me. The only other thing I can think of is blocking rooms off at a hotel or two. Have you thought about that?

Hi Ladies-

Thanks for all of your responses! I''m getting married on the 4th of July in a popular New England coastal community so I''m having NO LUCK reserving room blocks. For that reason I sent out STD''s really early to give guests a heads up to book a hotel room. I suggested several hotels in various price ranges so they have some options. Is it awful that I can''t get a block? Should I try looking at places outside of the few towns I''ve already looked in? If all the guests aren''t staying at the same place since we don''t have a block, is it ok if we don''t provide transportation? I don''t think we''re booking special transportation for ourselves as the ceremony and reception are at the same place and we''re staying there overnight. Would it be worth the cost if we don''t really need it?

The cake is being provided by the venue. We have chosen our color scheme, should we start looking at chair covers, etc or do I still have some time? Linens, place settings, etc are all being provided by the venue. We have to go there in the next few months to pick all of that out. How about hair and makeup? How early should I start looking into that?

Shouldn''t the groom book the honeymoon?

You''re pretty much in control of things; I guess you could order the invitations.

Cake included in the venue catering?

Holly, normally I believe so. However in my situation I have a ridiculous amount of freqent flyer points and hotel points from travelling for work the past few years that we won''t be paying for our honeymoon. So I need to be the one to book it since the points are all in my name.

Now that''s a deal! Did I miss a thread that mentioned where you might be headed for the honeymoon?

No now that I think about it, I''ve been so focused on other things that I haven''t started a thread on that. We''re spending a few weeks in French Polynesia- mainly Tahiti, Bora Bora and Moorea. We had originally wanted to do Maldives, but the hotels out there are absolutely ridiculous. I have Starwood points, so my option there was the W Maldives, which is about 60,000 points a night. That amount will buy you a week and a half in Tahiti. I''ll start a thread on it once we book it!

Hi Sap,

My wedding is the weekend after yours (7/12) and I''ve recently been in touch with the salon I''ll use. I made an appt. for my sister and myself, although I haven''t sent in a deposit yet. The date hasn''t been officially held yet since I haven''t sent in the $ but I''ll probably do that over Christmas vacation. I don''t know how I''m going to wear my hair but when I do a trial (in the spring or in June??), I''ll probably bring my veil just in case they need it.

Hopefully others will give their opinion about chair covers. We''re getting married at a restuarant so that''s a non-issue for us.

Zoe
