I saw this on display and was wondering what this (antique) step cut might be called. All it said was octagonal cut in a ring ca 1910, 1920. It was almost 4 ct I think it said, but clearly faced up smaller. Veeeeery expensive…

Looks like a very squat emerald cut to me? It definitely goes to a keel not a culet.

I thought asscher, then early emerald as well. But neither emerald nor asscher really seem fitting.

Could you share a smaller perspective shot if you have it?
As @Roselina wrote it looks like a mix between an asscher and emerald but with a messy/random periphery.

I have this, but it’s very blurry, since I was in a hurry and not really on a ring shopping mission… but it kind of spoke to me.

As I can remember… ca 4 ct, H, VS1 (?), I forgot the price, but it was several 10’000s. Didn’t want to look too close ;-).
