I''d love to hear your ideas!

We ID''d our tables not with numbers, but with names of places and cities around the world we have travelled to together. We put a 5x7 framed, sepia picture of us in that city/place on the table too. We had NYC, Florence Italy, Krka Croatia, Great Wall of China, Imperial Palace China, Ring of Kerry Ireland, Joshua Tree Nat''l Park, and June Mountain California. Everyone knows that travelling has been a big part of what has defined our relationship so I think it was the most unique thing we did.

Wow, selflove, you''ve been all over the map!

A great mutual friend of ours decorated the wedding cake for us; I mentioned her during the toast before we cut it. It was very personalized (just b/c I got to choose the fruits/flowers and make decisions along each step of the process) and absolutely probably the best wedding gift we received.

Also, we had a bluegrass band b/c DH loves bluegrass music and it''s traditional to the part of the country we are originally from; I was skeptical but it went off really well and everyone loved it (except NO one danced.) Oh well!

I made the sangria (and made sure to tell everyone!) and had a lot of input on the food. Maybe not as overtly personal as selflove''s great picture idea, but it did help us feel that we had a real hand in the planning and it wasn''t a generic reception.

If we had more time, we probably would have done some type of island-related favors; the lady who was making the candy for the favors backed out at the last minute (she had a good reason though, hubby was ill) so we actually didn''t have anything at all. I am debating sending a wedding picture with each of our thank you notes.
