What are some examples of a good padparadscha sapphire? Please show pictures. The one below is considered "one of the finest" from The Natural Sapphire Company, but I think it's ok. I think the color's too pale and looks like there's a window. I wouldn't know though, I'm a gemstone newb. If you can point out a good pad from their website I'd have a good idea of what's desirable and consider that sapphires. Thanks!

The NSC isn’t known for well cut stones so you might be barking up the wrong tree there. I would look at the PS list of trusted vendors for precision cut stones. Gemfix is a good place to start.

Thanks for the replies! My budget is $2000. Small I know! Gemfix has some very nice ones. And that is a helpful article.

That is a beautiful pad. So out of my budget though :( . I read in a few sources that they should be medium in saturation.

With your budget, you may not be able to get a pad that has a certificate from GIA or AGL since those will be priced high. Only those are considered to be real Padparadscha. If it’s just a rich pink-orange you want, what about a garnet or spinel? Those come in “pad-like” colors too for less money.

Here’s an example of a beautiful garnet: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-beautiful-garnet-engagement-ring.242472/

I see. I didn't know that. I thought as long as it was orange-pink, it was a pad. I'd rather have a pad. Sapphires are my brithstone and I love the blue ones but I want to treat myself to the rarer unique color.

Scarscum, that one's real nice! It says the report doesn't count it as a pad though :o

Peacechick, I'm looking for medium saturation. At least, from the sources I read, pads should be pastel.

What about AIGS or GRS? Would those certifiications count as real padparadscha?

The experts should probably chime in but I would think so long as it’s from a trusted lab since any peachy stone is now being called a pad and you can’t necessarily trust the color you see on a computer screen.

Far from expert but working on it. Especially in padparascha I would not buy anything without a first class lab report, never ever, even more so than any other gem. I never did buy one but if I could I would like this my favorite padparascha:

Shijitake, you have multiple threads on finding a pad and it’s rather confusing. Can you pick one that everyone should post in (pics, vendors, opinions) and keep that one going?

That is a beautiful pad, Anne.

Sorry peacechick. They're different questions so I didn't want to confuse myself with so many replies for different questions.

It's very confusing to have tons of different questions (all about the same topic/stones) in different threads. Please consider consolidating into one thread and deleting or closing the others, like @peacechick said.

Pads come in very different colors. Lighter, darker, more orange, more pink. There's no gold standard.

No gold-standard, but yellow-orange is not pad, right? Even if it looks like sunset. Or too dark, or too orange, I remember reading an 'official' definition somewhere, like a grading rule for the gem labs.

I don't understand their criteria since there's a lot of pad-looking sapphires that the GIA didn't approve as pad *shrug*
