I''m not saying weddings are not special if there are not little details, but I feel like I''m missing a lot. I''m on a tight budget, so I want the reception and ceremony to have that extra pizzaz, and I''ve read a lot that it''s all about the details.

There''s the DJ, flowers, reception site, officiant, cake, favors, accessories, tuxes, etc, and the list can go on and on of the big stuff.

However, there seems to me to be a lot more little nuances that I feel like I''m missing. I guess what I''m trying to say is that planning the big parts of the wedding is making me feel like I''m missing little details. What are some little details that you''re finding as you plan? What details have you seen at others'' weddings that made the wedding extra special? Were there any details that you excluded that you wish you hadn''t, or details that you included that you didn''t feel were necessary?

Well at one friend's wedding she had the ice sculpture done in the Batman symbol which was 100% for her husband and I absolutely adored it. Another couple offered an ice cream buffet because the bride could never get enough ice cream. At another wedding the hubby was such a prankster he pulled a pair of HUGE undies out from under the bride's dress when he went to get the garter - it was an utterly hilarious and unforgetable moment yet so small compared to the other larger details.

For us, our small details are the fun parts: funky little place tag holders, naming the tables after episodes of the Twilight Zone and making a small description of each episode on each table, replacing the standard menu left at each place with a schedule of events rolled up as scroll which will be passed out to each guest as they arrive at our venue, making a Save the Date magnet that looks like a Ouiji board, using bright bold colors on our invitations and as a way to honor my parents and their 35 year marriage I used the exact language from their wedding invitations...there's nothing huge about these details but they are the ones we hope will make people smile and remember our day as just a little bit different.

AW!!!!! Your invitations honoring your parents is amazingly sweet!!!!!!!!!
