OK I have posted similar topics but not this one exactly (though I have not gone over the 600 plus threads I posted in this group so forgive me for overlap)
I just thought it might be fun to share...
And of course everyone's definition of distraction is different. My DH doesn't consider cycling and hiking a distraction but I do because it allows me to get out of my head and be in the moment

Mine favorite distractions are:
Helping people in online medical groups
Cycling in the milder weather
Hiking in winter
Playing board games in inclement (not fit for outdoor) weather
Treadmill
Bling shopping and posting on PS
Word games

My dh's favorite distractions are:
Woodworking
Sewing
Electronics repair
Bicycle repair (he actually helps a local bike shop out doing repairs and building stuff for them at home)

Planning future camping trips
Planning future non-camping holidays
Learning to play the clarinet
Cooking
Eating
Drinking
Dining out
Social media including PS
Volunteering (this sucks up a lot of my spare time)
Walking my dog
Cuddles with the cat and the dog
Cinema
Theatre
Ten-pin bowling (the only sport that I can just about participate)

I used to sing in 2 choirs and had tap dance lessons, however, just can't fit them in due to not being able to commit to regular sessions.

DK :))

Knitting, and meeting up with my knitting buddies who are all fantastic ladies and some of my closest friends
Reading
Cooking
Dining out with DH and/or friends
Travel planning
Lavishing attention on our two cuddly kitties
Before I injured my knee in 2023, I LOVED going for long walks. I would walk home from my office, nearly 8 miles, once or twice a week. When we would travel, exploring on foot was my favorite thing to do. It was both excellent exercise, and excellent for clearing the mind. I miss it terribly.

ETA - and Bling, of course!

My distractions usually turn into obsessions ie the crochet granny square and the bird cage refurbishment as being on the spectrum I get very intensely involved. I will still read a book cover to cover in one sitting, literally.
You Tube has also, from time to time, turned from a distraction into an obsession. My current viewing choice is Chinese dramas with subtitles. Mostly the Drama shows for video, not like proper movies. I can waste hours and hours on these.
However my go to distractions include watering the garden, cleaning my jewellery, Facebook, Pricescope, Reddit and eBay browsing. Sometimes Etsy, but I prefer eBay.
I also like making my dangles and coloring in.

And vintage Anthropologie skirts, tops, dresses - but I won’t clog up the feed anymore

Indoor plant puttering
Beading
Reading
My core exercises
Walking
Water walking
Reading
Eating (so I cook and bake)
Gardening
Pricescope
Daydreaming
Making lists as I have ADHD
Doom scrolling (ack!)
Researching stuff I find interesting

Old black and white noir movies.
Prowling thrift stores and antique malls
Making silver jewelry

Listening to Chet Baker, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong and Sarah Vaughan records
Nothing beats a record on a record player
I get lost in their music
Musical geniuses

Back in the Midwest sometime before age 10, I saw Ella and Satchmo perform ... live.

No joke. ... You may kiss my shoes. :P2

I have a few of Ella's CDs.
Her voice, and that of Billie Holliday, carry me away. :kiss2:

100% agree. Ella's voice is butter yet strong and pure. And Billie Holiday's voice is magical. Both completely incredible. And wow to seeing Ella live. Just wow. That had to be a breathtaking experience. :kiss2:

I love being outside so gardening and walking my dog. We are lucky to have a 5000 acre reservoir park a mile away at home and are 2 blocks from the beach in NJ. I will walk the beach in 35 degrees and actually came upon a young seal 2 years ago ( reported to stranding rescue ).
Indoor distractions ( sorely needed now ) are reading, cooking and Bravo tv.
