However prongs are loose. It’s an estate piece. So I’m wondering why they would be loose if it looks almost new. The stone is heavy. Is it bc the stone is of no value?

Could also be a blue jadeite cab. It seems to have on my device screen, a very slight greenish in it, which often bluish jadeites have. Just a guess based on color, luster and because you mentioned it’s weight. It’s gorgeous btw.

I think so! They are offering it for 400 dollars. I’m going to see if they take less

It looks like turquoise to me Is the luster waxy or glass like?

Chalcedony?

If the setting is white gold and the side stone diamonds, the setting alone is easily worth more than $400 and it’s no trouble to get either the prongs tightened or even to choose another type cabochon gem to replace the original one.

Update: I purchased it for 270. Diamond tested and 18 k gold. So excited.

Well done, it’s stunning and such a bargain buy.

Such a great deal! Yes, it looks translucent in that last photo so could be chalcedony or Peruvian opal as 2neezers suggests. Will you get it tested so we can all find out? Looks great on your finger!

GREAT job! That's quite a find. :mrgreen2:

Could be blue Chrysopase? It's a pretty ring and IMHO the price you paid is well worth the ring no matter what the center stone is determined to be.

It's gorgeous. What a great eye you have. What will your plans be for it?

My second guess, ( first was a blue jadeite) is a gem silica. Will be interesting to find out!

Update. My expert jeweler is on vacay so I took it to 2 other estate shops to get a verbal appraisal. One had no idea and the other said it looked like jadeite and added that it’s not a very valuable stone :eek2:

Another vote for Jadeite from me.
