What CS for this CVB setting?

I love my platinum e-ring setting by CvB, but I've been toying with the idea of having it set with a colored stone and turning it into a RHR. I have a pretty active job and might switch to just a lower profile wedding band.

The CS would have to be round and probably around 0.6ct (there's some wiggle room in the setting so doesn't need to be exact). I am thinking maybe a blue sapphire. The current center diamond is 5.36mm x 3.17mm. When Caysie designed the ring for me, she said that she made the setting in a way that it would be easy to upgrade to a larger stone later, so I think I have some options.

What do you think?

If you have a specific stone to recommend for it that would be great too. I can't stand windows but I actually like zoning and inclusions because to me they are like freckles on a woman and give a stone its own personality :)

I'd like to see something very saturated and royal in it. A bright blue sapphire or bright red ruby, maybe a super bright amethyst or tanzanite? I'm no help. I had a similar conundrum with my original engagement ring setting and never really could settle on a CS for it. Good luck though. It's going to be gorgeous!

I agree a saturated blue (sapphire), but then again, that's my favorite stone type.

It would be helpful if you could include the mm size for what you think would fit in the setting rather than carat weight, as colored stones differ from each other and differ from diamonds in density and therefore dimensions.

Thanks! I edited the original post, but right now the center stone is 5.35mm x 3.17mm. Caysie told me she made the ring so that it could accomodate a larger stone if I ever decided to upgrade.

If you want to go with red don't overlook a red spinel. This one should be pretty close

Another possibility other than red and blue would be a Russian green dematoid or a true green sapphire. I saw a very nice dematoid in a dark green recently I just need to remember where. Aussiejamie has some nice green and parti sapphires. I've been looking at between 5mm and 5.5mm I've bypassed some other stones at 5.7mm to 6mm let me know if you can go that big.

I would opt for a pink Sapphire, Spinel or Tourmaline for that setting myself.

DK :))

I was just going to come post this gem then someone already did. I think it's a really beautiful color

It seems I can no longer edit my previous post. Both stone have videos if you click through to their respective web sites. stevorocks site (Westview Gems) is in Australian dollars so if you multiply by .76 you'll get a close approximation in US dollars

What is the maximum diameter and depth the setting can take?
What is your approximate budget?
