So, my love of watch conversions is well known as is my substantial collection of vintage manual wind watches.
I’ve done a few conversions out of necessity or practicality ie no movement or movement not worth repairing, can’t read the minuscule watch face but this one is a conundrum for me.
As a watch it’s about 25th on the list of wearing desirability and so I think I’ve worn it once, in 15 years, as a watch. The watch works perfectly but still.
So I considering my options.
Currently I’ve removed the movement and filled the empty space with a collection of blue gemstones which I’m not sure if I like.
Another alternative would be getting a jeweller to fill in the watch face space with gold and set with some sapphires to continue the decoration. With gold prices and labour this is probably about $1,000 and I’m not sure I’ll love it enough to justify the expense.
Finally, scrap it. It weighs quite a lot so I could use the $$$ for other projects.
Thoughts?

Personally, I would scrap it and use the funds for something else, if the bangle is unlikely to be out of storage much.

DK :))

I agree with DK. If you're not sure you'll like the modified version that much either, then I'd sell it and get something you would want to wear often instead.

Is it spangled with real sapphires? Are they eye-catching and pretty -- or just meh? I don't love the starburst bright work around them -- at least in those photos -- but I am not seeing it in person.

Is it '50s-era? Less of an heirloom vibe.

I would certainly be drawn to it as-is in a thrift-shop environment but I agree that it's hard to "elevate" further. It would be lovely with a huge, killer sapphire -- but such a stone could find a more worthy home, imo.

Might be cool to salvage the sapphires, which I'm guessing are metamorphic, and recycle the gold.
