Besides diamonds and other jewelry, what do you enjoy "collecting"?

I love to collect....... CLOTHES!!!!
I could go to a mall and just shop and shop....and I usually know EXACTLY what I''m looking for (so I''m not one of those slow, all-day shoppers...I''m very focused and like to accomplish what I go there for
face4.gif
haha)

I also like to buy a lot of couture clothing, and I have a LOT of clothing from Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand (their fashion sense is just AMAZING.)

I''m one of those people who like to wear things many people don''t have

....and I love it when people ask me about it!

now, back then I used to be HUGE into music- I have a couple instruments (acoustic and electric guitars, keyboard, drums, etc...), and hundreds of cds!!!!

Your turn!....

Fun topic. Would love to get to know other people''s interests through their collections.
I don''t have any thoughtful collections like coins, stamps, or vintage jewelry, but I like to collect pig items. Toy pigs, ceramics, slippers of pigs. I think pigs are cute.

Ice Princess, my mom collects pigs! I collect ladybugs. Ladybug everything. I love it. I also collect books. I read 4 a week.

I collect stegasaurus dinosaurs. Long story short, when I was four, I pretended I had an imaginary steg named George. He could hang-glide and do all sorts of fabulous things...anyway, my parents always tell the story...and I end up with random stegasaurus paraphernalia from friends and family.

And I also collect designer handbags! :)

Designer hand bags for me too!!!

I collect goblets! All of my goblets are fun and some are in different colored glass. I also like to collect vintage travel posters. And I''m starting a collection of tree prints to frame and hang all on one wall - so far I have a VanGogh maple tree, an Ansel Adams photo, and a Swiss Family Treehouse print from Disneyland that has such cool colors! Oh, and I also have a collection of photos of my family and ancestors and have them all sitting on one table. Hmmm, I guess all my collections are home decor

Animals. Good thing my b/f came along, or I might have turned into the crazy cat lady.

What don''t I collect? The short version - American Art Pottery, Arts & Crafts Movement anything, including the jewelry, American & British turn of the century Colored Woodcuts, Vintage signed Silver Jewelry from Taxco (1930-1960), Scandinavia & American Modernists. Vintage folding rulers, 1950''s Italian Pottery, Little glass animals, Sweaters, Black Turtlenecks........

In addition to gems ......

Arvid wine prints
Classic Monster figures
Classic monster/vampire movies
Knives/swords

Japanese Manga (In english) and to a lesser extent Animé. I also collect limoge teacups.
5.gif
I'm not sure my bf has noticed the teacups yet, though.

ETA: I'd collect animals too, but my bf claims that it's pet by volume so therefore he's allowed to have about 10 more cats before I can get another pet.

Oh good lord no clue. My diaper days are over. Now I have to buy my Nanny Depends. Talk about embarrasing.
32.gif
The check out clerks always give me a weird look. Ughhh.

Well look on the bright side, Kaleigh--at least she doesn''t have an ostomy or colostomy bag to deal with, lol! (I say that because my mom''s been helping my dad with his colostomy bag for the last couple of years--they both hate it!

)

I collect anything Wizard of Oz. It''s not to the Star Trek fanatical stage or anything, but I do have some fun items...a Glinda doll, some Limoge-esque trinket boxes, the Cow Parade figurines modeled to look like Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Lion, and various Christmas ornaments.

Speaking of Christmas--I collect Radko tropical themed garlands and ornaments. That was a collection started for me by my parents on their bi-annual vacations to Florida.

How come no one''s saying they collect diamonds/jewelry, lol? Is that just a given? I have a beautiful charm bracelet I''ve been adding to for the last few years...I guess that''s the only thing I''d count as a "collection" as far as jewelry since it''s all attached to one piece.

Oh Kaleigh!!!

My sympathies at the check out aisle--ouch!!!

As you know I collect all things Hermes; but I also love horses and hearts!!!

I collect art glass. I have vases and bowls and some other neat "vessels" that I put in a big curio cabinet. I love the beautiful colors-cobalt blue, red, yellow, green, purple etc. My DH and I try to buy one new piece of glass a year, frequently from the Ann Arbor art fair.

Haven''t seen Night Watch yet. Heard about it, thought it would be in the US last fall, but I don''t think it played in the DC area. Have to wait for the DVD. My collection runs to Universal, Hammer, and Eurotrash (Rollin, Franco, Naschy, etc.), some newer (Blade, Dusk till Dawn, etc.), and a lot of obscure and not so obscure (e.g., Blood for Dracula) 70''s era films. Wish they would put the Subspecies films on DVD. Could be an interesting thread if there are like-minded others out there. I''ll start one if I have more time later this weekend.

I have to ask, what designers of American Art Pottery do you collect? Unfortunately my budget over the last 10 years has only allowed for a McCoy and Shawnee collection (1,000+ pieces to date) with a sprinkling of Roseville bought years ago but my Mom has a nice little Van Briggle collection going, although she recently found some very nice (and pricey) Weller pieces. I have a business associate who has a Teco collection that is museum worthy....I can''t get enough of the stuff but we''ve been in our new place since November I still don''t have any pottery out on display
8.gif

(and my Mom also has a collection of the very old Steiff minature jointed bears, my favorite is the one with the head that spins and has a different face on each side)

Thanks for asking as it''s a passion of mine.

I''m a Rookwood gal - Artist signed pieces in most glaze techniques. Next is our NC connection - so we collect N.C. pottery specifically Jugtown''s Chinese Blue. From there, most any potteries associated with the Arts & Crafts Movement - Fulper, Newcomb College, Clewell, Grueby, etc. We do have some studio pottery as well. I like TECO - just never enough to allocate my monies away from Rookwood.
2.gif
I have a couple of Van Briggles - none of the very early stuff signed by he or his wife - the pottery is still in business in Colorado. I do like some of the Weller & Roseville lines - but I really never collected that. That''s fun to have a large collection of Shawnee & McCoy - I''ve seen people''s homes who have collected and it''s in every nook and cranny - smiling up at you. Fun colors & forms! Unpack your gems!

I wish I could share something interesting that I collect....but for now, about all I collect are piles and piles of artwork and homework sheets from my kids. :)

I collect African Violets. I used to have over 350 different varieties but my collection has dropped since I have my new baby.

Antiques, wooden trunks/chests, and according to my husband, I specialize in chairs! There are 12 in the garage rafters waiting for refinishing! I also have a lot of old bowls, and platters...my friends call me the "bowl whore" because I have an old cabinet fillled with all sorts of different kinds! I have old crocks filled with a crazy collection of antique kitchen tools as well! Weird stuff...mostly from the early 1900''s.

Well, I started to collect designer bags, juicy couture suits and of course, my Roberto Coin tiny treasures collection- I posted in the 2006 diamond goal that I wanted the baby key pendant, which I got and since then, I also got the wishbone, the palm tree, the NY pretzel and I am going to get the medium circle of life pendant!
