When the vendor says the stone was mailed but it never arrived. Apparently the vendor did not insure it or have a way to track the package :errrr:

I've just had exactly the same thing happen! I bought a gem from a US seller with 100% feedback on Ebay. He tells me that he's shipped hundreds of stones worldwide and this is the first one to go missing. I've asked for the tracking number to confirm postage and he hasn't provided it.

If you've bought from Ebay and paid via Paypal you can open a dispute within 45 days. Normally Paypal will make sure a full refund is given. I filed my complaint today and it will normally take a few weeks to finalise.

If you bought direct from a Vendor and paid with a credit card, you may be able to claim back via your credit card.

Good luck and I hope you get some resolution.

I bought off the bistro from one of our vendors. He stated "he would not cheat me and keep him posted". I don't know why but I am feeling bad about it being lost. I paid via paypal with my cc. I guess I should ask for a refund first before opening a dispute. I feel sick :knockout:

In that case, either the vendor should compensate you with a new stone of comparable value to your liking or you should get a full refund. Cemrn, your BK stone is missing, isn’t it? I’m so sorry. :(sad It really is the responsibility of the vendor that the stone arrives to you safely so if he didn’t insure or track it, the risk and loss falls squarely on him.

Definitely open lines of communication with the Vendor first. Give him the opportunity of fullying refunding you. If he doesn't then you have no choice (and must) file a dispute with Paypal. Just don't forget the 45 day rule.

Look at it this way, if you've paid for insurance/tracking of the parcel and the Vendor hasn't done it then why should you be out of pocket? Don't write it off.

By the way I have a horrible suspicion that I won my gem at a VERY VERY low price and in my case I think the Vendor may not want to part with the stone for so little. :(sad

Yes Chrono, that is the stone I am talking about. I looked back and I did pay out of my checking account via paypal so I will keep in mind the 45 day rule. I did pay $5 above the stone cost for shipping. It never stated it was insured or not I just assumed it would be. I've only bought 2 gems online and they both were shipped insured. I have asked him to verify the shipping address as well.
update:he wrote back and is going to work with me
