I''m just wondering what you all do with your e-ring/w-ring at the gym? I know that Mara kickboxes with hers

, but what about the rest of you?

Right now I''m wearing my ring while working out, but it definitely makes me nervous, especially when handling equipment. Did someone mention pinning it to their bra or other clothing with a safety pin?

Hi Sparkler,

My watch was stolen a few years ago from my locker.

At the gym I go to now I've seen girls pinning them to their shirts. After time it's bound to bend or lose its shape. It's best to "pin".

You could probably find a really nice "pin" at a dress shop.

I would not and never have left anything extremely valuable in a locker but that's me.

Pin it or buy a sturdy neck chain with a good lobster claw clasp and hang them around your neck.

I swear by unlacing my shoe a little, then lacing my ring into my shoe and double knotting the lace. It's not going anywhere from there! Works like a charm, and I always know it's safe. I highly recommend trying it.

That is my routine for weights, but I do wear my rings when I'm doing cardio.

Whatever you do, don't leave it in your locker!

Rings become "pendants" at the gym (tennis court in this case)

Daniela, what if you bang your foot into a machine or piece of equipment? And I have had sneaker laces loosen up on me to the point of unraveling, even with double knots?????

I am not criticizing but more amazed that this works for you.

Another safe place is your bra.

But the safest bet is to leave your e-ring at home. Why take the chance of losing something that special to you?!

Placing your ring on your shoe lace can be a great idea, but as some one said it could be damaged by the equipment inadvertantly.

What I would suggest is:

#1) Leave your ring at home in a secure place!

but obviously this is not feasible for everyone so the second best choice is

#2) Do a search on the internet for "shoe pocket" and you will find a lot of companies that make pockets that fit securely around your shoe laces and this pocket can protect your ring. To be extra cautious you could pin your ring inside this pocket. It works great!

Hope this helps,

I don't go to a gym, I run outside, but those shoe things are great. Also, Amphipod makes a nifty little pouch that hooks onto your waistband. The opening of the pouch faces your body, so it is very secure. Sometimes on long runs I forget to leave my rings at home, and my fingers swell when I run for more than an hour or so. This thing is very secure, I feel confident putting my precious sparklies in it.

That's why I unlace the shoe (take the laces out of a couple of the holes), put the ring on the lace, then put the laces back through the holes, and double knot it. There is absolutely no danger of the ring falling off this way, I assure you. I imagine that the "shoe pockets" people are talking about function in the same fashion.

Also, as for getting caught in equipment, it's not really a problem. In fact, if you think about it, you are probably just as likely if not moreso to catch a chain around your neck on something as you are your shoe.

Thanks everyone!

I used to do what Daniela does with her shoelace, only I did that with a locker key. I'd probably feel odd putting my ring on my foot (just mentally I guess) so I'll try pinning it or wearing it on my necklace. Thanks for all the ideas!

Simple ~ Dont take them. I sometimes leave them in the car. But if Im going to go to the gym, I leave them at home.

When I go to the manicurist I have to take off my rings so they can do the paraffin wax, I usually am wearing drawstring pants or something with ties, so I can tie them on there in a tight knot. Then I keep a watch on them. Working out, I would feel uncomfortable if they were on me and not on my finger...aka on a pendant or a shoe...anything can happen. I had a key in a pocket once while doing a 5k walk, and it fell out and I had to walk back 2 miles to find it so we could get home! So sometimes exertion and levels of power can surprise you. I would definitely not leave them in a gym locker either.

Best to keep them at home in a safe place and make sure your insurance is up to date.

Or wear them!!

I bring a ring box and slip it in there and then put it in my purse which I leave in my trunk.

I must check 200 times to be sure its there and as SOON as I am done and in my car I put it on again.

I guess the issue is that I live in NYC and have no car to leave them in. Also I normally go to the gym right after work so I can't leave them at home. I find myself being distracted by my new "bling" because the track lighting is great at my gym, so wearing it is probably not the best. So, pinning it seems to be the best solution for me personally.

Id get that little pouch someone posted about. Im tempted to.

I wear mine at the gym. I hardley take my ering off, and sometimes i even sleep with my earrings on. I leave everything on at the gym.

I also wear mine to the gym. I don't wear my good jewelry to the gym, but I also don't wear it anywhere except out for very special occasions. BUT, all of my settings are new, sturdy, and very solid so I don't worry too much. Also, I pay good money to have insurance and if something does happen, it is covered... I guess because I'm not engaged I don't have that sentimental bond to my rings... just for pleasure and sparkle factor.

... getting lost in the sparkle helps the miles go by on the treadmill too!
