Following up to the recent thread about wearing your rings when you sleep, work out, clean etc...

It''s recently gotten really cold where I live and I started wearing my gloves again on my way to work. We also recently finally received the e-ring and I''ve loved wearing it whenever is reasonable. My question is this: what do you guys do with your rings when you have to wear winter (or other) gloves? I tried wearing the ring this morning with some relatively loose fleece gloves and it''s really annoying.

And I''m also wondering what you do with your rings when you''re away from home and need to take them off. I mentioned to FI this morning before putting my gloves on that I could put the ring securely in my purse till I get to work then put the ring on, and he is absolutely AGAINST the idea of me ever having the ring not on my finger in public unless it is sitting safely at home. The issue is not that I don''t have it on, the issue is that it''s "unsafe" in my purse. But I don''t want to have to never wear my ring all day just b/c I had to wear gloves for 30 minutes in the morning/afternoon.

Gloves are a nightmare - I''m just very careful taking them on and off!

I have a ring box in my handbag and my ring goes in there when I need to take it off for more than a few minutes (carrying heavy things mainly).

I also have complete insurance cover as a rider on my house insurance for both my e-ring and my w-band.

Thanks for responding Pandora.

I only got my ring a little over a week ago, and we did not leave the store without insurance in place! Hehe I still remember when I first started my search, you were one of the many who made sure I KNEW to have insurance!

I wanted to do the same thing in my purse - have a small ring box or pouch I could fit in a zippered pocket. We'll see if I can convince FI... only on rare occasions would I do that anyway, but it was so annoying this morning with the ring (it's not even a high profile) stuck up under the glove, it kept turning and I couldn't fix it.

I turn the stone into my palm. THen there is no issue putting the glove on and off.

Hehe! I do the same Octoberbride! I turn the ring into my palm as it is most confortable. But I also don''t wear knitted gloves as those tend to unravel easily.

Best way to convince you FI is to find some photos of rings that have been squished through picking up suitcases etc. If you have any kind of pave or channel-setting on the shank, carry heavy bags/shopping etc is a surefire way of bending the setting out of shape and ultimately loosing stones.

I suppose you could always stick it down your bra? I do use this in emergencies!

My ring is set really low, so I don''t have a problem wearing gloves with them, especially loose fitting fleece ones. Tighter leather ones are a bit tight, but they still fit comfortably.

I have a little velvet-type bag from the jewelry store in my purse where I can put my ring if I need to take it off for some reason. I take it off a lot for work, so I''m used to leaving it in my purse and don''t worry about it anymore.

Wow - I''m surprised some of you take off your ring and put it in your purse. Your purse is such an easy target for a theft and imagine the theif''s suprise to find out he/she also snagged an engagement ring?

Anyways - be careful!!

I leave mine on. It''s annoying, but I don''t really like to take it off away from home. I usually wear mittens, so they aren''t too tight on my hand. Try leaving it on the next few times--maybe you will get used to it, and it won''t bother you as much.

That''s what FI is worried about I think. Or that it could fall out or the purse get left somewhere or someone sees me put it in the purse then it''s an easy target.

I actually tried this on my way home - I flipped it over with the diamond palm down and it wasn''t quite as annoying, I just was really wary of it being there. It''s not so bad though. Good advice!
