My dream for my wedding is a very ethereal, bohemian setting. I am toying with the idea of having the dress that Tara Reid wore in the JCPenney Colin Cowie ads custom made. I spend most of my day barefoot because I am a yoga junkie and am always barefoot at home. I would love to be barefoot at my wedding, but my mom is having a heart attack over it, almost like it would be the end of the world if I didn''t wear shoes of some sort, I also think I might have to wear them since we are almost 100% getting married in a Catholic church. I am trying to find out details of getting married at the reception site near a lake in the gazebo. This is the location for the reception and maybe the wedding: http://www.lakehouse-cooperstown.com/

I have to mention that the ring isn''t on my finger yet, but I know it''s coming so I''ve started the planning

If you get married at the lake, barefoot is no problem. Don''t know anything about Catholic church weddings but if you have to wear something on your feet in a church, how about the comfy satin bridal slippers. Click here to see.

Barefoot? Outside wedding, great!!! Church wedding, not. Just my opinion though. I don''t know specifically if it would be frowned upon to be barefoot in the Catholic church, I would think so.

The lake setting is beautiful, and if you do it there, I say barefoot all the way. If you do the ceremony in a church, though, I don''t think barefoot is appropriate for the setting. Just my 2 cents!

Assuming there are no rules, I don''t see anything wrong with going barefoot in the church. Sure, it''s different but you wanted a more bohemian feel and if it works for you then go for it!

Both my wife and I were barefoot at our beach wedding.

Who had those pictures of split toed foot jewelry made out of shells or beads that still leave the bottoms of your feet bare. Those would be perfect.

I don''t have pictures, but that''s what I wore. It was like jewelry for my feet - a loop hooked over my big toe, then the beads went up my foot and wrapped around my ankles like a bracelet. Was very pretty. I got married in Costa Rica, in a very tropical, mostly casual setting.

I would agree with what most said - at the lake would be great, in the church, I would opt for shoes.

barefoot in a church is a definite nono..but outside- it's your day and do what you like! Although I tend to think that unless it;s on the beach or outside in the wilderness, then shoes are appropriate. But that's just me.

What about something like this?

I think on the beach or by a lake it''s fine. But in a church??? Ummmm..... No!!! Just MHO. Our Reverand would never allow that.

Yeah I know in the church I would have to wear shoes, something very simple like the satin flip flops would be a great compromise. I was in a wedding that the reception site would only allow a certain type of shoe, a closed toe deal. It was totally uncomfortable! I might want to hide my feet with shoes anyways :) My feet are so ugly from so much yoga

Hey dazedland - I too am going barefoot. I had a hard time trying to tell the tailor this, she couldn''t understand that I wasn''t wearing shoes, and kept demanding that I come back wit them for my dress fitting!

|Here''s a pic of what I WILL have on my feet:

We are not getting married in a church, we are getting married in the sand at a lake as well, and I think it will be a lovely feeling to have NO SHOES ON - go for it!!

PS, you can find those at www.ladybead.com :)

Those are so perfect! Thank you so much! I hadn''t even thought of something like that, it fits the whole way I want my wedding to feel, and if I go the church route I can always change into them. I have a little star tattoo on my foot by my pinky toe and I think it will be so cute.
