Hi ladies~
I was looking at all the beautiful pictures and websites everyone has posted...I had never seen the x-prong setting before but I really like it! I was wondering what you all thought about it...does it sit differently than a 4 or 6 prong solitaire? Is the band different? Just wondering what the general consensus is, it seems to be an elegant twist on a simple solitaire and I love that!

I love the x-prong setting! I think it''s a very classic design.

Everyone has the Vatche, but Scott Kay and H. Levi & Co. also have their own slightly different versions that are really nice!

I think it's great for all sizes, from .5 to 2 cts. (but personally, if I had a .75+, I'd get a six prong)

I obviously like it.

To try to answer your questions, it doesn''t look that different than a 4-prong if you''re looking at it straight on. The main difference is in the side view.

Blenheim - I saw your picture and it''s gorgeous! Congratulations! What I''m also wondering is if the x prongs have the stone sit higher or lower than the traditional tiffany settings? I''ve noticed that on first glance the only difference is the side view, but I still love that.

I thought I wanted an xprong, but I changed my mind. Don''t get me wrong...I love them! But when I went shopping for them, I think I made the mistake of trying a few on, and essentially got burnt out on them before I could find one I really loved.

When I saw the Jeff Cooper profile, it just called out to me (probably because it was different from x-prong). I just liked the stronger lines better. I''ll post a pic below. There''s no diamond in it, so it looks kind of funny...the prongs looks pretty eager and greedy for a diamond!

But the x-prong IS gorgeous and I liked the fact that it seemed like a pretty secure setting with the basket and all. Vatche''s seemed more rounded than the trellis setting that Jeff Cooper had. Try on a few...you''ll find yourself having preferences even if you are not a particular person (I am not). Even though we see a lot of them here on Pricescope, I have not yet seen anyone wearing it in real life. But then again, I am not that intune to other women''s rings....yet.

That is eager for a diamond.

Thanks for your advice, that''s a great suggestion. I''m not ready to seriously go shopping since this won''t be happening for probably 2 years, but I''ll keep it in mind!

Oh I do like that! The lines are so clean and smooth! Very Nice!!!

Throw me in with the partial group...
I got my x-prong from Blue Nile. It's gorgeous. I have a .75 Asscher, and it really looks stunning in it. (Again, partial

We had the ring "brushed" so it's the dull effect of a Scott Kay ring we wanted to get, and I get SO many compliments on the setting. People always say how different, yet classic it still looks. $995 for the setting in platinum, and it's gorgeous.

Here it is...

That is one of my absolute favorite settings! But I have to say I prefer the three stone x-prong settings

I am off to go find my favorite for you Irishangel.....

If I had wanted a three stone ring, I would''ve definitely gotten that setting! YUM!

OH I love love love that! I can''t decide if I''d like a solitaire or a 3 stone...but if I end up with a solitaire I definitely would like a 3 stone for an anniversary present! Absolutely gorgeous setting...I''m partial to yellow gold, but beautiful!

As far as solitaires go, are they compatible with ring wraps and do they sit flush with wedding bands? I have a million questions I know hehe.

Don''t know about wraps. But for the wb it is completely individual. Are we talking a straight wb? THe the ering either has to be straight or the head on the ering has to be raised so the wb sits underneath it. In SMTR forum there is a thread labeld something like show me the underside of your halos which will have some good pics of this. There is also the choice of getting a curved or notched band to sit flush with the ering. Hope that helps a little. I can go find the link to that thread for you.

Interesting...thanks sparkles!

show me the underside of your halos: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/show-me-the-underside-of-your-halos.44687/
so granted this thread shows wb sitting flush under halos but the same would be true for an ering that doesnt have one. THe head that holds the diamond in still needs to be contructed in a similar way.

plain solitaires with plain bands: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/show-me-your-diamond-e-ring-settings-plain-bands.34594/

wedding ring sets thread with all different kinds: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/show-me-your-wedding-ring-sets.24091/

there is stil a specific post thread I am looking for but having a lot of trouble but here are some good ones to look at!

Wow...thank you so much for all of this information!

No problem I''m happy to help! SO now I am curious as to what you are liking the best?

Ok, I finally had time to look at all those awesome threads. I seriously have a problem...I cannot wait! All of those are so gorgeous...I still really love 3-stones but I''m partial to the classic solitaires. Beautiful!!!
