Hi all,

I've been in love with pink diamond but due to its ridiculous price I have decided maybe I could recreate that look with a gemstone.

When looking, I found this pink sapphire
https://www.jamesallen.com/mobile/gemstones/pink-sapphire/4.00-carat-emerald-sku-28043

What do you think of the pink sapphire? And price wise I find it a bit on the high side for a heated pink sapphire but I am no expert in this. Pls advise and feel free to propose different gemstones/ vendor as well

TIA!

I love the ones @elle_71125 posted for you. I think both will be better than James Allen, since they arent know for high quality gemstones.

Some people really dislike that.
The Africa Gem ones are a fancier modern cut so they do not have a “window” or see through part.
Here my pink sapphire, it has a window so you can my finger underneath.

I'm far from understanding the whole man-made diamond situation, but one thing seems to be an obvious conclusion: The future of non-man-made colored gemstones has become even brighter. Right?

OMG , That is a beautiful gem! I need to quit looking before I make an impulsive purchase. :)

He’s got a 20% discount code right now. Just think of that beauty on your finger. :Up_to_something2::lol:

I know - the price is right and husband says to buy it but it is not something I need and I have other gems waiting to be set. Trying to put temptation behind me!

This is also beautiful. I actually prefer paler color like this one compared to the brighter ones but the hue is slightly more purplish..

I prefer the one from james allen in terms of color but totally understood the "window" that @Bron357 Talked about and I could totally see it from the video. So that was the deal breaker.

Here’s a 5.15ct for $7,398

And a nice bonus...he’s offering 20% off for the next few days.

Yes! I actually thought of getting a pink MMD. I quickly browsed through brilliant earth and whilst the small ones under 1ct is very affordable, the 2ct and 3ct are $25-30k range

Should i get just the small 1ct range? But then it wont give the finger coverage and drama that I am looking for

I love the one Elle posted too.

On the topic of pink diamonds, have you read this thread?

Thanks so much for showing yours
I can totally see it now.

So maybe not the one from JA. I dont want a see through central stone (is this smth like light leakage in diamond term?)

If you have the patience to wait for the right gemstone rough to come along, you should contact Jeff White or any other professional cutter listed on the pinned thread of the CS forums. I think working with a professional cutter might get you the exact color and cut you want at a lower price than James Allen offers.

And for what it's worth, I think that windows might be more of a problem for lighter colors than more saturated colors. So if the window will bother you over time, make sure you get a sapphire without one!

You should wait for De Beers’ Lightbox range to launch later this year. They will offer up to 2ct in fancy colors like pink and blue, i believe at $800/ct. And i have a feeling the prices of MMD will drop sharply after this (this is what the thread was about, de beers crushing the competition). So definitely don’t buy a MMD right now, but wait and see!

@peacechick Are you sure the Lightbox will offer up to 2 ct? The Lightbox website makes it seem like the largest size offered will be 1 ct, and the settings will be sterling silver or 10k gold as the only options. Lightbox is supposed to sell only jewelry, not loose gemstones, but I haven't seen any rings on their website, so I'm not sure it would be worth it to wait for Lightbox to launch.

I think if getting MMD, one should wait, but natural, untreated sapphire should still hold its value, so there is no harm in looking and considering buying pink sapphire.

You’re right, I went back to read the article and they did state it would be topped off at 1 ct. It was in the thread where posts discussed the possibility of 2ct. I think it will happen, but not that soon. Meanwhile, I think pink sapphires will definitely hold their value over time.
