What do you think of this ASET image for a round diamond?

I am looking to purchase a round diamond. I think I found a good one. I have the ASET image below and I am not sure if this is great or mediocre. How does this ASET image look to you?

Thank you so much!

Not an ASET, it's an H&A image. But it looks good to me! Can you post images of the stone itself?

Hmm that's odd. I don't like it, despite the nice hearts image. I think because the crown angle is steep and the pav angle is shallow.

Hmm, okay. Should I be prioritizing the crown and pavilion angles over the clarity? I should note this would be for an earring, not a ring. Thanks!

Could you show me an image of what you think a good stone looks like?

If you turn that 1.54 sideways and look at the pavilion its got somewhat of a brown tint to it. Of course, a J is going to have
some tint to it but since a J covers a range you want to look at the stones sideways and make sure the tint isn't too tinted
for a J compared to other J stones. We recommend that people stick with GIA or AGS graded stones.

For an earring that is usually not viewed up close like a ring, IMO, clarity should go further down on the list of importance.

Are you trying to match a stone you already have? If so, please post the report on that stone because you want the "look" of
the stones to match.

Hi, DRTC!
Definitely want to avoid the shallow 40.3 pavilion since it may (and probably will) cause some over-obstruction under the table, making it go dark.
Can we help you find some better options for you to pick from?

Thank you for the feedback. I don't have an existing diamond to match. I wanted to figure out how to select a good one first, then try to find a matching one.

I am looking on James Allen. Here is my search criteria as I try to build diamond stud earrings:
-1.5ct each (3 tcw)
-round shape
-I or J color
-excellent cut
-table of 53-59
-depth of 59-62.8
-crown angle of 34-35
-pavilion angle of 40.6-41

I would like to keep each diamond to under $7k, if possible. It seems as though I should go down in clarity to achieve this. I am new to this so if my criteria should be adjusted please let me know. Any suggestions or options you can find are greatly appreciated. Thank you kindly!

I would definitely go down in clarity for earrings. No one looks at earrings up close (the wearer included)

That angle combo is perfect for an earring and the ideal scope image looks just fine.
Is it one of a set or single?
It might be hard to find a matching one for a set.

A lot of time that table size and crown angle requires shorter stars but with the shallow pavilion the aprox 50% works just fine.

Not seeing much worth checking out further in the 1.5 carat realm in I-J max, unfortunately.
1.2+ might be possible and/or bumping down to K-L color grades.
Is your desire to stick with natural grown? Nothing wrong with that if so, but you may need to exert quite a bit of patience for the right diamonds to pop up for your price range.

The said diamond also has IGI report, which I would avoid. They are more lenient towards color and clarity. The diamond looks brown, and a legit GIA might grade it to be a K.

Good to know, I will avoid IGI grading. How far down in clarity would you recommend I go for earrings? For color I think I will stay at J or higher.

For earrings I would personally go down to SI1

How much does fluorescence matter? What rating is ideal? And for getting a set of two diamonds for earrings, should they both be the same fluorescence? Thank you.

Fluorescence has the potential to alter the appearance of diamonds in some specific lighting environments. However, only strong or very strong fluoresces will make a noticeable difference. Therefore, if you stick with medium or less, it should be a non-factor visually.

Excellent. Thank you.

I am considering these two for a set of earrings. I believe all the proportions and angles are in the ideal range. They do not have any ASET or H&A images, and are not able to order them unless I purchase the diamonds. If you could share your thoughts on these two that would be great. Thank you.

Any guidance on the number of prongs for a diamond earring this size? I am not sure if I should select 3, 4, or 6 prongs. Thanks.

The first one is si2 clarity grade based on clouds not shown which pretty much means it has issues.
Has some pavilion issues where some of the facets are wonky.

2nd one is worse, si2 clarity grade based on clouds not shown and the optical symmetry is a hot mess.

Thank you for the feedback. I'll go up a bit in clarity and keep looking.

So would something like be more advisable? It's marked as a True Hearts cut. so the symmetry and optics should be much better. But does have some surface marks.

Nooooo to both of these

This is much better. You don't need a true hearts cut persay, but this one is significantly nicer than the other ones you posted. if this is for earrings, you don't need to worry about the magnified photos bx no one is looking at earrings up close

Ps. Do you need to stick with James Allen?

No, I am open to other sites. I have used JA in the past and trust them. Certainly open to other recommendations.

You OK with K color that will have maximized light return and optical performance with a heck of an upgrade program for life?

This was going to be my suggestion. Much better cut, and lifetime upgrade policy

I think I am going to get this true hearts one:

For the matching diamond earring, I am trying to decide between these 4. Any suggestions on which one would be an ideal match and have the best light return?
