This is the one I have, but haven't used it and it's been sitting out in my car for about three months since my jeweler gave it to me *for my diamond* necklace. Connoissers silver cleaner SPECIFICALLY says right on the container that it causes cancer!!!
Double check to make sure that this doesn't say that (since i keep forgetting to look and can't verify). When I use my silver cleaner, I wear surgical gloves and I store it up high away on top of our kitchen cabinets so my kids and cat are safe from this looming danger (who knows HOW much you have to drink/have soak in your skin before it's dangerous
- maybe 10,000 gallons - lol).
Personally, I found that 1 part ammonia (sp?) to 2 parts water works great. Soak the diamond piece for a few minutes, scrub the diamond with a toothbrush and rinse and dry and it'll look fabulous between professional jewelery cleanings that you can do at the mall whenever you're there.

have you tried this method to clean your silver? it worked for me for my silver jewelry - to get rid of the tarnish. some of them, i had to put more elbow grease into getting out the tarnish.
get a bowl, fill with hot water, line it with aluminum foil, put your silver items/jewelry on top of the foil, pour in some tablespoons of baking soda and mix in the water. the tarnish should disappear before your eyes.. if not, make a paste with the baking soda and water, then rub it onto the tarnished item.. worked for me for the stubborn ones. good luck!

i also use a dilute solution of water & ammonia to clean my diamond jewelry. i let it soak in there for a while, then take a baby toothbrush and brush around the stone. makes it sparkly!
i also have an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner i got from sharper image that works VERY well..i'm just lazy to set it up to use it all the time. i also use the ammonia + water solution for that. hope that helps..

There is a vegetable based cleaning product that I like very much. It is made by gem Care Products and I believe you can see all about it at their web site gemcareproducts.com. It is $25 for the kit, but I am told that there is a nice cloth that comes with it for polishing the jewelry if you get it at Winfields for the same price.
It has the advantage by not using petroleum products that it will not tarnish your jewelry if you leave it in overnight, and that it will not poison your pets or your childred if they get into it. Also it smells pleasant rather than harsh and because it does not leave a residue the stones stay cleaner longer.
I gave away the Connoisseurs for many years and it is a good product, but the cleaning kit at Gem Care Products is much better in my opinion.

Before you do dishes grab an old tooth brush, use soapy water and then rinse in water. Simple! This is everyday real world remedy. The worst the diamond gets is a little hairspray or a slight film of dirt. No magic potion on how to remove each.
This is one of the hardest substances on Earth, what we need to learn is what harms the setting that has base metals mixed into it, except Platinum.
