What do you think of this for E-ring?

Hi!
My boyfriend and I are looking at stones for my engagement ring. We came across this one that we love but I am getting second thoughts about it. It is a J, VS1, round brilliant cut. Let me know what you guys think.

I definitely would not recommend this stone. The table is bigger than the depth, so it will look "flat". It also wont have the light performance of a more ideal cut. I would read through the education /cut section of the website to see the recommended proportions/angles.

In general, the "safest" stones will be in the following ranges:
Table: 54-58
Depth: 60.5-62.4
Crown angle: 34-35 (35.5 can work with 40.6 pav)
Pavillion angle: 40.6-40.8 (41 can work with 34 crown)

I think most here would suggest that you’d want to stay away from Very Good cuts.

Visual impact of your stone is most significantly impacted by cut quality, then size (dimension). Jewelry store lighting is basically made to make any stone (even with poor cut quality) look pretty good.

Not sure what your budget is, but I’m certain there are stronger choices in terms of cut. Unfortunately it isn’t as simple as getting a GIA Excellent, as that category is also too wide.

if you share more about your preferences and budget, we can help you find alternatives.
