all but one of the dresses I''ve tried on have pretty much had straight necklines. I really loved the one with a sweetheart neckline, but the material on the bust emphasized my chest more when it doesn''t really need the extra attention. The dress I tried on after that one though, we all agreed was just perfect. Of course, I''m still going to look around a bit, but this dress really made me feel good. But looking back at the pictures, Im not so sure anymore. I was thinking, maybe it would be better with a soft sweetheart neckline instead? Does anyone think this is possible with this dress? Its a Maggie Sottero - Jessica. Even looking at the pictures on the model, it just doesn''t show how beautiful it is in person. It has a slimming, lengthening effect too which never hurts! All the pictures are of the diamond white/light gold coloring which is what I''d be getting. I''m just not sure about the straight across neckline. I know its hard to really get a great idea from these bad shots, but of course I forgot my camera and had to use my phone! My wedding is September 13th, and I don''t know when I''ll be able to go try dresses on again. I had shoulder surgery on the 16th and cant lift my arm over my head and don''t know when i will be able to. My mom wasn''t able to come with to this store which is why I think part of me is second guessing it. Anywho, sorry for the novel!! Onto the pictures. First, from the website.

P.S I know my hair is in the way, but until just recently I didn''t own a strapless bra, and I didn''t want to take mine off, so I covered the straps with my hair! For the wedding I''m thinking it will be at least half down, if not completely in soft curls which I have naturally.

Ok, I''ll have to shrink the website pictures before I can post them, so heres mine in the meantime.

One more thing, I just love the little train it has! Though I don't know how I'd want to do the bustle. I asked about it and she showed me a couple different ways they would do it, one of them being the ballroom bustle. I had never heard of it before but she said it's growing in popularity. Basically they just fold up the bottom, so the flow of the gown stays the same in the back. I liked it except that then at the bottom you have it rounded off, which looked odd to all of us for this particular dress. But I don't know how I'd want to do it because all the ways she showed me had it's drawbacks. And here I am talking about it like I'm definately gonna get it when I haven't even gotten to show my mother yet! She likes it, but has only seen pictures so far.

So if anyone actually read all of that.... what do you think?

It is hard for me to visualize the different neckline or the bustle options, but I love the dress. It is very pretty. I would like to see pictures of the back on a real person as the front looks so much nicer on you than in the model's photos. I do think straight across looks nice on you and I'm more of a sweatheart fan. Perhaps you can take someone to try the dress on for you and they can clip the front so it has a slight sweatheart neckline. It might help to see the dress on someone else especially when it comes to bustle decisions. I wish you a speedy recovery!

It looks very nice on the 3 real brides who wore it and posted on the Maggie website.

I love the dress and i think it looks great on your body but I would be hesitant to change the neckline especially if you make it dip down in the middle i think it may look a bit wierd b/c the empire waist goes up so it would be like outlining your boobs kinda.. if that makes sense... i think its soft the way it is especially with such a flowy material! thanks you bluekeet and smiles! I think it''s a good idea to have someone else try it on so I can see how the bustling would look, because it was kinda hard to watch in the mirror as she did it. So after looking at it again, thats a very good point about it would be outlining my chest! I didn''t even think of that, and I certainly don''t feel I need to put more focus on them! Pointing that out has definately settled my mind about wanting a sweetheart neckline with this dress. :) Thanks!

I could post pictures of the back of the dress while I''m wearing it, but it definately would NOT look better than the picture from the website! The dress was too small, so while it looks right from the front because it''s a lace up instead of a zipper, from the back you can definately tell it doesn''t fit! I think when I can go try it on again, I''ll have my sister try and make it look better in the back (we didn''t try very hard since we knew it wouldn''t look right anyways) so I can post a picture of it.

Smiles I saw that too. It probably would be better to leave it straight across if you want to down play that part. It looks fantastic on you. I am having a hard time seeing the back of my dress to figure out the bustle too - might need to find someone to try it on for me too. Of course it is much easier to do now that I have it at home. Hopefully your mom will be able to check it out with you. My mom and I have very different tastes, but for some reason it was important for me to have her ok it before ordering. I think I tried on my dress once a month for 3 months before I finally ordered it. Then you see all of these other gorgeous dresses (like yours) and have to remind yourself you made the right decision!

It''s a similar neckline to my Maggie Sottero "Libby" and I liked it because I knew I wouldn''t have to worry about "the girls" all night, and also because the square sort of neckline emphasized the horizontal line of my shoulders and collarbone, which made it seem they were wider, therefore my waist smaller by comparison. I liked the sweetheart neckline by looks as well, but I never saw the neckline on a dress I liked, nor a price I liked.

In other words, I think it''s a great neckline. And if you love it, you just have to go for it. Once you find a dress you love, you''ll waste your time trying on other dresses because you''ll just end up comparing everything to that first one you loved. Or at least that was my experience.

OOHHH, and you''re getting married just one week after me! I know, I''m a dork...but that''s still cool.

partyjewels,

I'm actually really fond of the sweetheart neckline myself. I almost decided to get ther Maggie Sottero Tuscana Vidal, which looks similar to yours except no cute back train (yours is adorable!!!) and the scalloped neckline. It does emphasize the boobs some, but me and my A/B chest like that part.

Here's a picture of the Tuscana Vidal. It might give you some insight as to how a sweetheart neckline would look with your dress.

I like the neckline the way it is

Thanks you guys :) Im so anxious to go try it on again with my mom, I just hope I still love it as much! I think I am still going to look around though, because while I love this dress, I still have this image in my head of the perfect dress for me, but I cant find it anywhere! I know I could go the custom route, but I'm already worried I'm not going to be able to order my dress in time ready made! I'm such a worrier, planning a wedding is really not for me!

Anyways, thanks again!! :)

P.S. Tberube, you're not a dork, I think stuff like that is kinda cool too:)
