I am planning on using a pearl cover stock (very, very light sliver) for our wedding invitation. Do you think the same color pearl, pewter (dark silver), or onyx (black with silver speckles) envelope would be best? I would use black ink for the light two and silver ink for the onyx.

This is my first poll. Wish me luck!

opps...how do I add onyx?

I vote for the pewter but I think it depends on where your wedding is taking place and the "feeling" of it (for lack of a better phrase)

Thanks. My first poll and I messed up

My wedding is in August at a country club, pretty formal. My colors are black and white with purple accents if that helps.

I''d go for the onyx to match your wedding colors. Pics would help if you have any!! :-)

Here is the pearl paper (they are hard to photograph)

Pewter paper (is a little darker in person)

onyx paper

Here is a print sample on the pearl paper and it looks like a silver ink. I love this look and thought about printing our thank you notes like this (with a wedding picture).

I like either the pewter or onyx. I don''t think you can go wrong with either of those colors. I prefer the contrast over the matchy matchy pearl colors.

I can''t vote for onyx yet since it''s not up, but to me the onyx would scream "formal" and "evening" so that would be my top choice. Pewter envelopes would be my second choice, though...I do think a little contrast would look lovely. They sound like they will be beautiful no matter which you decide, though!

onyx, it''s more elegant IMO

I know! How can I add onyx to the poll?

I don''t know how to do polls Tacori, lol!

Hopefully someone will chime in and let you know, or you could try a search...sorry girl!

You cannot add it once the poll has been posted, maybe Irina could do it if you asked her?

I would vote for pewter though, I think onyx would be too dark.

Another vote for Onyx

i say pewter, hands down. pearl would be too matchy-matchy. onyx would be too much contrast. also, i don''t care for dark envelopes for formal occasions. once the envelope arrives, it has a big ole white label from the post office. it just arrives looking messy.

have you thought of doing the something with sparkle but not so much as the invite? say curious lightspecks for the envelope? it might provide nice contrast, if you didn''t want everything to be supper sparklie.

How hilarious. I was thinking of using Curious paper too! (great minds think alike) I really like their silver translucent for the first page and cyber grey cover (89 lb) iridescents for the rest but it is kind of blue which is not the look I am going after. The silver cover lightspecks is very pretty but do you think it will make it look too busy as the invite? I know you were just suggested it for the envelope but I am just thinking out loud here.

The Shine paper I posted is more subtle in real life (except for the onyx) The pearl paper is more like a pearl than sparklie. They probably would have to put the white label on the pewter too (well maybe not...) I was more worried about the weight (107 lb) which is VERY heavy.

I am getting samples so that will be helpful.

sorry for the late reply. i actually was doing a google for curious lightspecks envelopes and this thread popped up. i realized i never checked back on it.

i was thinking just the curious for the envelopes to go with you scheme. however, i don''t think the silver lightspecks would be too busy for the invite itself. just make sure you printer has experience printing on the curious papers. even though they say they are letterpress friendly, my printer said it didn''t work for him. so i had to change my plans around. after i found out that i couldn''t find a chocolate letterpress friendly paper in different weights, i decided on curious silver for the invites and envelopes. then i found out they weren''t letterpress friendly with my printer. finally i found a nice white paper that matches the white of the curious lightspecks- boy was that a task!!- and will be using just the curious lightspecks as my inner envelope. whew!

the 107 lb. paper you mentioned- is that for the env. or invite?

107 lb was for the invite. I decided this would be way too thick since I am have having a 6 layer invite

I ended up getting "waste not" paper in Quartz which is closer to 80 lbs (works much better). I did order the black onyx envelopes (from the swatch above) which I LOVE. I am going to hand write the addresses with a silver pen and get the return printed in silver ink. I am ordering curious vellum but I am not using a letterpress.

i voted onyx, I like contrast.

btw, have you tested your silver pen on the paper yet? some of those pearlized papers are a bit testy and don''t take certain inks, so just check and make sure your particular pens work!

Oh I didn''t even think of that!?! Maybe I should bring a sample of the paper to Michaels and try them all out.
