a bachlorette party? is there something special you want to do for it?

I have no idea if I''ll have one. My sister (who is my MOH and only attendant) lives in Portland, OR, so it might not be her that would plan something. To me, it''s not important at all. In fact, all I''d really like to do, if anything, is go out to dinner and hang out with my friends. I''m almost 34 and I feel like I left the partying stage long ago, so I''d prefer something quiet and low-key.

Well, I know what I don''t want: a t-shirt filled with Life Savers, a cheap veil, lots of shots, and screaming, drunk ladies hanging out the windows of a rented trolley. Oh, and NO strippers. Or games that involve divulging embarrassing information about my personal life or rolling special dice to see what "dare" I have to complete next.

I''m with ZoeB--something low key where I get to spend quality time with my girlfriends. I''ve wanted to have a Lill Handbag Party at 1154 Lill since I first saw one of their handbags, and I''m thinking a bachelorette party would be the perfect opportunity. I think it would be so much fun to make the handbags, then stay in a hotel and order in Chinese food or pizza and get into our pjs, mix some drinks, and watch girlie movies all night. You know, some real girl-bonding time.

Oooh, I''ve always wanted to organize a hat-making party, I would be all about that, too. And then we could wear our hats out the rest of the night.

I stood up in one wedding and the bride had a day-long bachelorette party--it started out with a pricey breakfast in the Hancock Building, then spa packages, then high tea at The Peninsula, then shopping on Michigan Ave, then dinner somewhere expensive yet forgettable, and a night of cocktails and dancing at several clubs. It was a bit too much time to spend with one group of ladies, I was very ready to climb into that cab home by the end of the night.

I like this thread a lot, I''m interested to hear everyone''s ideas.

All I wanted was a girly night...dinner out at a nice restaurant, and a "slumber party" in a nice hotel suite with my best girlfriends. I DIDN''T want to go out drinking/clubbing (even though I was only 26) or make a complete drunk a$$ of myself like I had witnessed other friends/brides do...I just wanted to spend one last single night doing something I would never really get the chance to do again as a married woman, which was to have an all out girl slumber party like I had throughout my childhood where we dished gossip and ate chocolate and strawberries and drank actual champagne (didn''t get that in childhood times, lol!) It was so much fun, I absolutely loved every minute of it! My MOH had everyone play a game that had something to do with lingerie, I can''t remember what it was but I ended up with a ton of really cute panties and lingerie so that was nice as well. She also had two nail techs come to the hotel suite and do mini-mani''s for all of us which was nice, and we just stayed up all night and drank and talked. I loved it.

Monarch''s night sounds fun! But I don''t have a group of girlfriends... I have a few individual girlfriends that don''t really know each other. The only "group" I have is the do-ed, mutual one that FI and I share

My MOH is 33 with two little children on the opposite side of the country, so I don''t think she''ll be planning a bachelorette party. I would love to have a girly night playing "bachelorette" themed games, but really no group of people to do it with

Can I have my bachelorette party with FI and our group of friends??

Monnie--your night sounds PERFECT! THAT sounds like a great party.

I didn''t have a bachelorette party (my girlfriends all live 500 miles away). The best one I attended involved renting a limo t and spending a day wine tasting. That night we all went back to the bride''s house, made her favorite foods for dinner and had a good ol'' fashioned slumber party. It was a blast, she enjoyed the party more than her wedding.

Well, i already had mine but thought i would chime in anyway. I was NOT into the engagement party, shower, bachlorette, rehearsal party scene (just considered it overkill) but my best friend insisted i have a bachlorette and planned it all--so of course I obliged. I had a small group of 10 close girl-friends go to a poll dancing lesson at a studio and it was SO much fun--haven''t laughed that hard in a long, long time--it was perfect followed by drinks finger-foods and a night out at the bar (sans any attire that exposed me as the bride-to-be) I would totally do it again.

I would love to go to a poll dancing class!

My MOH''s are planning a trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. I wanted to go to a beach and relax for my bachelorette party. However, I also don''t mind a little bit of drunken chaos now and then. I might as well enjoy it before I get too old.

In Cabo, we can lounge during the day and party at night.
