I am trying to put together our invitations. At first, I didn''t want to have an insert (and didn''t ask our friend who designed our invites to make them, as a result) because I figured everyone would just go to our website. Monitoring the web traffic, it appears that our guests are not visiting the website, so I am guessing I should include an insert sheet. I am thinking about including information on:

Hotel blocks
How to use provided transportation
Suggested dress
And telling people that we will be projecting the OSU game (which is the major concern of our guests)
We are also including a map to FI''s parents'' house (where our reception is)

What are you including in your invitations? Apart from the ceremony/reception information?

This is a great question.

I''m not having any hotel blocks, so that''s out.
Transportation...they get to figure that out themselves.
Suggested dress...everyone has asked me already and it''s on the website.
No maps for us--if they can''t find the big gold hotel at the south end of the strip, that is their own fault.

So my only thoughts were to put a very basic itinerary on there, kind of like this,

January 8th
Dinner at ______ at 7pm
Bachelor/ette party at ________ at 10:30pm

January 9th
Ceremony at 5pm
Reception dinner at 7:30pm at ____
Going to see ______ at 10:30pm

January 10th
Lunch at _____

Etc. Really though, I''m pulling it out of my butt. I just like my cool black insert card that comes with the invites.

I had a map with directions from church to reception as well as hotel room block info.

Thanks Freke and Blair for sharing.

One thing I thought you could add, Freke, is some suggestions of what your guests might want to check out, since you and FI have been to Vegas before. I know I always go to restaurants and bars that are suggested to me by the B&G when I am at out of town weddings.

We had a map to the hotel, taking various routes with the hotel contact information.

I think you should put whatever you think is important for your guests to know.

I''m adding a map insert to the ceremony site and reception. They''re both in the same place. Since FI and I''s wedding is on a Friday night in NJ, we''re including (although I''m unsure how to word it yet) on the maps something that says to plan accordingly for all the traffic going down the shore (beach). We''re also including hotel block information.

Is there anything else that should be included??

Good question, katamari.

Ditto that. For example, all we are adding is a map card with ceremony and reception sites--sketch map on one side, directions on the other. Most out of town guests only live 2-3 hours away, so will not be staying overnight. As such we didn't feel hotel information was necessary (the ones staying we contacted personally). If you have larger numbers of overnight guests, hotel info is good. Every wedding is different, so just try to put yourself in the shoes of one of your guests and go from there.

Besides the time and address of the ceremony/reception location, I also included the time the bus will pick people up and which two hotels they will pick up from. Then I listed our website. Honestly, I could''ve included more ... but the majority of our guests (everyone but maybe 5-8 people) are under the age of 35 and can use the internet to figure this stuff out. The website has everything they need, so I cheaped out on including it all in the invitation. Hopefully I won''t regret this decision later

My invitation had four inserts. Ours is a DW, so the first insert had the Wedding Itinerary (which was basically the B&G&BP Day of Schedule); the second was a Map of the Resort; the third was the Reception Information; and the fourth was the RSVP Card.
