What inspired your color palette for your wedding? What about your theme, if you have one?

Well my wedding dress ended up being pale pink, so I chose silver bridesmaid dresses to go with it. I don''t think any other color would have looked as good with my dress. And the flower girls are wearing white dresses with silver sashes to go with the bridesmaid dresses. The flowers will be more pastel to go with the pale dresses, and the table cloths and linens will just be white to go with the pale colors.

So my dress really started it all! It actually is what got me planning, because until I had it, the wedding seemed very far off and abstract.

I''m going with purple, gold and Ivory. Purple is my favourite colour so that''s why I went with it. Plus my sister has red hair and it was quite hard finding a bm dress that suited all of them and purple does.

I actually based my colours off our reception venue. Its going to be very modern and sleek.. very dark with candlelight and an electric blue glow bar. I''ll attach a photo so you can see what I mean.. my description sounds tacky.

I want everything to match in with that, so our colours will be black and white with splashes of blueberry, sage green and a deep purple (kind of like the colours found on a peacock feather).

Because we are having a roving dinner the only way these colours will be incorporated in with the suits, my dress, bridesmaids dresses, flowers, invitations and bonberie.

I originally picked ours because of the beautiful stained glass windows in the church I wanted to get married at. Every week at church my mind would wander off and daydream of the flowers, dresses, etc. and how they would look. Then, we it came time to actually plan, it made more sense to get married in our hometown instead of where we currently live, but the color scheme just stayed.

I am getting married in December - it would not have been my first choice for the time of year, but it is by far the most convenient and feasible time for my schedule and for FIs. I think i had all sorts of color palettes in mind until that was decided and then i came to a raging halt. My major problem is that i really don''t want anything that looks like christmas - so any kind of red and green bridesmaids dresses were out, and mostly all the pastels are out as well due to the time of year. I finally decided on a teal/silver theme because it looked wintry enough but not too christmas-y. But then once i got going with it, the whole teal and winter thing kind of excited me - you can do lots with it. I figured i''ll just throw lots of sparkly things in there to make it look wintery - i''ll attach my inspiration board below.

What''s your theme/palette?

Dannielle, this place looks awesome!

I couldn''t decide what color the bridesmaid dresses should be. For months I was debating between a shade of blue or some type of burgundy, and while I liked how those colors looked, I just couldn''t picture them at my wedding. I kept pushing off making the final decision because I really wasn''t happy with either of them (even though I always loved how they looked at other peoples'' weddings). One night I had a dream about my wedding and all the bridesmaids were wearing purple - I woke up and thought about it and LOVED the idea of using purple. I had my bridesmaids wear dark purple and my little sister wore light purple - the colors looked so pretty together and I was so happy I had that dream because it inspired me to pick a color I had never even considered before!

I'm Chinese, so red, white, and gold (well, more like a shimmery cream), was an easy choice :)

I wanted to incorporate my Chinese heritage into the reception, so a lot of the details and food are Chinese :) The cake is 100% american though, lol, because Chinese people don't do desserts so well by American standards..
But yeah, very chinese invitations, dresses, food, activities (karaoke!), pearl favors, the table numbers are paper fans, brocade escort card holders, panda bear ring pillow....lol.

The walls at our reception venue are a dark green so I wanted to choose colors that looked good with that. I asked my fiance what colors he likes, and he said blues and greens. This was over breakfast - I was drinking out of a coffee mug that was striped in navy, light blue, and bright green - and I realized we could use those two blues together with a green that complimented the two. So I guess my color scheme was inspired by a coffee mug, thanks pier one!

Hmmm ... good question! I originally thought of burgundy bridesmaid dresses because that''s MOH''s favorite clothing color and it''s very fall appropriate. Then I started to realize that it''s hard to find the color burgundy I wanted and that maybe it''s a bit overdone for fall, so I started looking at blues and settled on a slightly lighter than navy color. Then I needed to pick a flower color and I loooove bright orange (think gerbera daisy orange) and that goes great with blue, so it was settled. Other than that, I don''t really have many things in "our colors" other than flowers, dresses, and napkins, so it''s not a huge theme or anything.

When I told FI about the blue and orange idea, he was pumped because those are Syracuse''s colors

He also loooves orange for clothes (probably because of his love of Syracuse) so he''ll love wearing an orange tie.

I knew I wanted green right off the bat because I love lime cymbidium orchids, so I was trying to find a color that would complement the green. I initially thought pink, but then I realized that I wanted the bridesmaids'' dresses to be a darker color. My FI''s favorite color is purple (one of his college''s colors), so I thought that might be a good second color. I found some pretty bridesmaids'' dresses in aubergine, and that was that!

Oh this sounds so trite, but my inspirations were:

The Tiffany Blue box
Daisies and pearls
The last scene of the movie Funny Face - late 1950''s

Colors were aqua and white, our cake was square, and we had ribbons everywhere.
Daisies were in my wedding bouquet - I liked things being free-form, gardeny, pearls are classic and elegant, understated
My ceremony venue was in a park with a stone gazebo and a little pond behind it, all the dresses were tea length, fitted to the waist and then flared out, like classic 50''s styled dress.

I always wanted an autumn wedding - always! Good thing the hubs was okay with that plan

Burnt orange was my #1 priority (my favorite color and as autumny as it gets), so that was our primary color. We added elements of moss (literally) green, gold and brown. When I say it, it sounds pretty gross as far as colors go... but I promise it wasn''t!

Also, we really let our venue carry the decor. We just added little touches to dress it up a bit, kept our colors in mind for dresses/flowers (minimal)/centerpieces/cake, and that was it. As far as added ''colors'', ours were really minimal.

My inspiration was the duvet cover on my bed and my shower curtain. The duvet cover is a beautiful blend of ivory, sage green and dusty rose. The shower curtain is green ivy on a white background. As I looked around my home, I realized that I loved these colors and that they would be perfect for my outdoor wedding in Yosemite Valley. Sage green, chocolate brown and ivory will be the predominant colors, with a pop of fuschia here and there.

Here''s my inspiration board:

I saw a layout in a magazine and thought that it was gorgeous and exactly the feel we wanted. The colors were perfect for us especially since we were going for a glamorously dramatic event.

What''s your theme/palette?
I don''t have one yet. I''m having difficulty in this department.

So far, the flowers and the shoes I like are pink, but I never imagined myself having a pink wedding. I would really love to do a really soft buttery yellow with the tiniest splash of red, maybe with berries in the bouquets and red shoes or something like that. The only problem is that my gown is very deep ivory and the yellow might be too close to my gown color. I''m going to have to test that out when I go and try on my gown again, tomorrow, hopefully.

Musey,

Your wedding was beautiful! Orange is one of my favorite colors too. Too bad it doesn''t seem appropriate for spring.

I love autumn weddings and all of the elements they bring. My MOH is deployed to Afghanistan until late October, so autumn was out for me. Otherwise, that would have been my prefered season and deep orange would have been my prefered color.

Oh well, I can always paint my kitchen that color!

I was inspired by the decor of my venue, but now I have to change it because they''re moving it!

(It was a boat.) Good thing I didn''t get very far. Now I''ll just have to plan around the new decor.
