for a 4 carat pink tourmaline concave cut 9.75mm?

It depends on the purity of hue, tone and level of saturation. Treatment also should be taken into consideration. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Chrono...I am waiting for the vendor to send me a pic. Will post as soon as I get it. Thanks!

Looking forward to see the pict:) That's a good size! I like concave faceting too:)

Do you know if it's irradiated?

I prefer the 4 ct pink tourmaline for 2 reasons:
1. The busier cutting is better suited to the low RI of tourmaline
2. The way it is cut, the colour is more evenly distributed throughout the stone, whereas the smaller one pales out towards the edges.

More importantly, do these tourmalines hold their colour? Neither are a strong saturated pink but if you prefer this, then I’ll say no more about it.

Chrono, what is RI?
I like the 1st one better also, but it won't fit the setting that I want to use..............ugggggg :angryfire:

RI = refractive index, which measures how much light is bent as it passes through the gemstone. This information gives us some idea how well a gemstone “scatters” or disperses light. The higher this number, the more sparkly the gem will appear to the human eye.
