TL, thanks for posting.
Also, finally. I learned the pronunciation.
Well, FWIW... The start of the video actually completely mispronounced the gem name, and then one-upped that by also mispronouncing the language and the country.
The globally accepted correct mispronunciation (yeah ) would sound like padparaja: "a" like car and not pan, "d" is pronounced/audible and not silent, "j" is jet.
But yeah, completely agree with the points on quality: these older more traditional criteria for pads should be upheld and preserved.
I have always said pahd-pahr-ahd-sha...my brain just does not want to articulate the J for some reason! Speaking of which, do we have a consensus on mahenge? I say muh-henj, but some folks say it with a hard G or they add a long E at the end.
And can we just talk about that hinged cuff for a minute? The center cushion is my very favorite shade of padparadscha...
Here's more info. Who's brave enough to request the price?
Bangle with padparadscha sapphire
Bangle in red gold 750 with a padparadscha sapphire, sapphires and diamonds. Gübelin Jewellery Ref.: 40G-0566/PADP/CSwww.gubelin.com
And that's why I fell in love with your set so hard!!

It’s almost disturbing
I think MAH HEN GAY is the real pronunciation. I know what you mean though, I want to say MAH HENJ.
As TL added above, it's Mah-hen-gay (the y silent for Tanzanians, and even though there's an e after g, it's hard g and not j).
But I mean, it is what it is... People say things however they do and it's all about the gems in the end. I think most of us would have no problem understanding aliens if they came with beautiful stones, LOL.
... I want to say MAH HENJ.
