What is missing with this ring and what do I do next?

Hi everyone. I am so upset to post this but my dream ring turned out to be pretty disappointing when I opened the box. When I tried on the diamond on at the store (I’m a size 8 so it didn’t go all the way om my finger) it looked HUGE. But upon picking it up in the store 4 weeks later, it just looks so tiny and not the show-stopper I originally had in my mind. The band was also only supposed to have 1 row of diamonds but they mistakenly put 3 free of charge. The band is definitely thicker than I wanted, but how could anyone complain about 2 free rows of diamonds? It’s just missing something I’m not sure what - maybe a halo or just needs a bigger diamond to compliment the much thicker band? Looking for any and all opinions as well as advice thank you!!

Thicker band can sometimes make a diamond look optically smaller. Tapered band might make it optically bigger. Also, check the number inscription to assure it is the same diamond as the one you had purchased.

Well if they messed up the band, did they mess up the center diamond, too, and give you a smaller one?

Maybe the original one was set much higher? That will also make the center stone look larger.

If the previous band (when you tried it on) only went part way down on your finger then it was covering a greater percentage of
your finger. Now that it is the way down at the widest part of your finger it is covering a smaller percentage so it "appears" to be
smaller. To fix....you either need a bigger stone, a halo, or a 3 stone. Basically, something that takes up more area. Most of
us have felt your pain at one time or another! Does the place you got it from have a good upgrade policy?

Edit...maybe since they screwed up your band choice you can tell them you would like to do a halo instead (of course you would
need to pay the extra price difference). See if you can try on some halos that would be about the same size ...that actually fit
all the way down on your finger to see if that would give you what you want/need.

I think your ring is beautiful and does not look small on your hand. The proportions are lovely.
