Hey guys,

So you know that I had a pink sapphire ring made recently which I totally love but I have a problem. I never realized that my fingers swell pretty regularly when wearing two rings (correctly sized) and even though I had her raise the design by 2mm to accommodate my band, it was rubbing against the cutlet of the pink sapphire. Well that's kind of a problem but luckily no damage I could find to the ring or stone.

I had actually been considering another daisy ring to stack (since they are designed to stack together) but I scrapped that idea yesterday because of this whole issue. Now the problem is I really need a band to go with this since I wear it on my left hand. Also it annoys me to death that my band is only a half eternity so if it shifts you can see the band part without the stones. First world problems. The only options I can come up with are:

Solder my existing half eternity platinum diamond band to my daisy ring

Get an eternity band and wear a spacer or two between them (but then would the spacer rub against the sapphire?).

Solder an open gap band to the daisy ring (no chance or rubbing with the gap). An example:

What to do?

This is just so you can see how they looked together before I had to stop wearing the band and a pic of the underside of the ring so you can see what I'm talking about.

Thanks for any and all suggestions! :wavey:

You can order ring designs with open, bendable backs (so you can make it wider or smaller). People with arthritis use such design when their joint swell.

I like the idea of the open band, seems to be the most practical solution, plus it's really pretty.

No possibility of wearing the rings on different hands?

This is such a ring design:

It's possible but I would rather just wear my ring by itself with no band than to wear it on my other hand. Essentially this is my stand in for my engagement ring.

Norman, thanks for mentioning that, will probably need to go that route in the future or just wear one ring because it's only a problem with two.

Austina isn't that so neat? I didn't know what these bands were for before. My husband isn't really on board with soldering anything though, I think he would prefer me to just wear the one ring. I might just end up doing that. Part of getting older, having to adjust to the quirks your body presents

Wow that is a beautiful set and I do love that open eternity band too. I just wonder how you would keep something like that from shifting so you don't see the open part?

Perhaps sizing beads would keep it from spinning. I know 6 1/2 is the right size ring but then my rings have the tendency to spin but when I was wearing the daisy and band they hardly moved.

I put cheap metal sizing guards on my e-rings and bands. I know they can and do cause tiny scratches on the shank but these are easily buffed out. The reason I love them is I can easily adjust the guards. This comes in handy when I choose to wear bands with my e-rings or when my hands swell.

That's a great idea Lisa, I might need one of those for the winter.

I came up with these two options for an open band, which one do you all think would look best?

I like them both. Maybe the first just a tad more because of the contrast.
