What is the difference between comfort fit and regular bands?

I''m looking for a plain, 18k white gold 2mm band to go with my new 3 stone

I went to the e-wedding bands website because I heard that some PS''ers have used them. I was wondering if someone could explain the difference between their domed comfort-fit bands and their domed bands? The domed bands are about $40 cheaper, so I was actually contemplating one of those because I''m already over my jewelery budget lol! tia!

Comfort fit is the rounding of the in the inner part of the ring that is in contact with your finger. Should be easier to put on and take off the ring than normal, non-comfort fit ring.

EDT:
Normal rings are more likely to catch onto your finger, especially if you have fleshy fingers. Go a some jewelry store and try the different bands and see if it bothers you, I think that is the best way, especially if you are going to put on and take off the ring often.

Okay thanks so much! I will have to go try rings on today then lol!

I own both types from eweddingbands.com

I highly recommend the comfort fit. MUCH more comfortable, esp. in the 2mm width. It is also a little thicker band. Despite what it says on the site, the regular domed are about 1.3mm thick and the comfort fir about 1.6mm. I think the slightly thicker band will be a better match for your 3-stone, but I would ask Brian what thickness your band will be. If you are opting to do as I suggested and have your e-ring made to be at least 2mm thick around the top half, for matching diamond bands inthe future, then I actually recommend the HEAVY domed comfort fit by e-weddingbands, which is 2mm thick. You can also ask them to customize the thickness for you to be exactly 2mm thick or maybe 1.8mm thick.

I had a regular 2mm band. I was amazed at how different a 2mm comfort fit felt - it''s like butter sliding on and off.

Dreamer, I thought it was you that owned a band from ewedding bands! Thanks to everyone that has replied :) Ok, I think I will go with the comfort fit then and see if they can customize it to be close to the thickness of my 3 stone ring. I will have to ask Brian what the thickness of the Truth Setting is going to end up being...I was so nervous about picking the "right" setting when I was talking with him that I forgot to ask about the thickness! He said the width will be about 2 to 2.275 mm.

I suspect then that it will be very low profile, around 1.5mm like the truth solitaire. If you want to wear a diamond band in the future this will pose a problem, as it did for me with my truth/legato solitaire. Also, the regular domed band is a better match for that height than the comfort fit, so if you order the comfort fit then I suggest calling them to specify it can be no thicker than 1.5mm. Or call brain and have the shank customized to be thicker.

Just things to think about! It drove me batty that I could not find a diamond band to match the profile of my old solitaire, so if this is important to you, think about it now rather than regretting your setting!

Ok, so essentially I need to ask for a 2mm profile, so that when I get a diamond band it will match up?

My ring is a modified Truth solitaire (band with Truth head) and the shank is very low profile. I would say no more than 1.5mm. It is rounded a bit on inside for comfort, but I would not call it a *true* comfort fit compared to wider bands I have tried. Both my rings are 3mm wide. I have gone up a bit in sizing above my ring size for some more comfort as the not quite true comfort fit is not quite enough. I have super sensitive skin though and get irritated easily by too much pressure/constriction. I do agree comfort fit is nice, especially for wider bands.

This is fine for me as having a very low profile for bands was my intent and I have a matching band (scattered diamond bands) so they match heights. I wanted rather understated bands. It would be an issue with a diamond band though/anniversary band as the latter would sit higher and likely scratch head, etc as I do not have raised shoulders, etc on my ring.

So you might want to check to see what compatibility issues you might need to consider in the design.

On my first set I was insistent that the heights off the finger on all my rings match, but I had ordered my engagement ring sized snugly, and I didn''t want to add another snug band and wind up with a too-tight set. My Ering was 2.1mm "high", so I ordered a "light" 1.3mm plain band that was a 1/4 size too big, and the heights matched perfectly. So that''s an option if you want them to match in profile but have one sized a bit bigger, too

Very good thought!

Wow, there is so much to think about with this! I''m going to ask Brian to make the profile higher in the Truth setting, so that it will work with a diamond band one day. I think that I will wait on getting a plain band until I get my new ring in hand, and then I can go try on different bands and see what works. Thanks so much everyone for the advice!
