Is it a faceted octagon, faceted emerald cut, or maybe just an oval? I can't tell.custom_46.jpg
BTW, I really like this setting for a men's ring, as it provides lots of light to highlight the stone while providing pretty good protection for it. I have messaged the designer to check on pricing for one like it with some sort of blue stone.

Cushion cut?

It’s a cushion. They can be square or elongated, but they’ll have the rounded corners.

And I saw that you asked what cuts are good, so i’ll say that I love a cushion cut. I think any cut is fine as long as there is no window and you avoid the half-half blacking out that tends to happen with elongated stones.

Another perspective on the blue stone question is that blue sapphires are priced sky-high these days, it’s really crazy. In comparison, irradiated blue topaz is so inexpensive and comes in such large sizes that you could afford to replace your stone easily, should it wear down. To that end, I would prong set the stone and not a bezel, which would have to be destroyed to remove a stone.

For once in my life of liking "shiny things" I am lucky, then, as a generally prefer the blue colors of topaz over sapphires most any day. My pocketbook will like this...for a change.

I hear you on the stone setting method. What would you call the setting in the picture I've posted above?

Thanks for the responses, y'all.

Generic mixed cut (brilliant crown with step cut pavilion) in a rectangular cushion shape.
