dream wedding: on the shores of some south pacific island at sunset, very intimate
actual wedding: not even close, getting married at a winery, our idea of getting married at a beach around here didn''t even pan out, over 150 guests

Dream wedding...

Vegas as is. Wearing SJP''s silver gown. Honeymoon in Europe. Specifically Greece, Italy, France.

Real wedding...

Vegas. Badgley Mischka gown. Honeymoon to NYC or Hawaii when we can afford it. Europe has to wait.

The real thing was exactly how I invisioned it in my dreams

Here''s me doing some fortune-telling, since it''s next year, but...

Dream wedding: running off to somewhere drop-dead gorgeous to be married outside by the sea and/or mountains
Actual wedding: running off to James'' hometown (which is by the sea) to be married in a small registry ceremony

Dream reception: all family and friends of both James and I are gathered together in a beautiful, relaxed environment where we have fun things to do, good food to eat, lots of drink to, er, drink, and good music to dance to!

Considering our tiny budget is being stretched across two celebrations on two continents, I think we''re doing pretty well. AND we might just make the dream wedding location a honeymoon destination--who knows?

Dream wedding: ceremony in small local chapel mid-afternoon. Reception in parents'' backyard, with a huge tent on a beautiful summer evening. Live band, kids catching fireflies, everyone having a blast. Honeymoon in Italy or Tahiti.

Real wedding: ceremony in a larger chapel, early evening. Reception at nearby country club with large wraparound patio and windows. DJ. Honeymoon in Mexico.

Though my real wedding isn''t my absolute dream, don''t get me wrong - I am entirely, 100% ecstatic for my upcoming wedding....!

Dream Wedding: My love and I exchanging vows by the ocean with all of our loved ones there to celebrate
Real Wedding: My love and I will exchange vows NEAR the ocean (but not on it because it is a religous wedding) and we are having about 40 of our friends and families witness it...pretty darned close!

I was the same. I wanted to get married in a castle, with a beautiful dress and party the night away with my DH, family and friends and that''s what we did.

My dream was to elope, so the actual wedding will not even be close but that''s okay

Mine was not even close. I''ll preface this by saying that my "dream wedding" started after I got engaged, not at age 3 or whatever! So it''s not a dream I was seriously attached to or anything. But...

Dream wedding: Swanky archeological museum in Philadelphia, ceremony in front of a real Egyptian sphinx with garden reception, 50-75 guests. Other than the venue and the guest list, I hadn''t really dreamed of anything wedding-related.

Real wedding: Rural riverside ceremony and barn reception in Central PA.

The reason why I strayed from the dream wedding? Cost. Not only was the museum a $3000 deposit and $125-150/head for catering, but my parents offered to pay if I had the wedding in my hometown. Done.

My real wedding was pretty much what I pictured my dream wedding to be!

Dream wedding:

DW somewhere amazing, like Belize or the Grand Cayman. Just FI and I with our closest family and friends, followed by an abundance of food, cocktails and dancing under the stars

Actual wedding:

Getting married overlooking Sydney Harbour at the Royal Botanical Gardens followed by a roving reception at the Royal Motor Yacht Club overlooking the water.

.. It may not be what I always dreamed of but I think it will be amazing

I had my dream wedding *sigh* Although I never did think of weddings until he proposed, so I guess I dont have a dream to compare my wedding with. That said, I wouldn't have wanted to change a thing.
